The unofficial "I reserved @ Radio Shack" Thread

I just received a message from HTC Source pretty much confirming Best Buy will have it on launch day. I'll trade in my old blackberry 9700 and use my 100 dollar gift card. Maybe I can get it for like 350 with all the discounts!

yea best buy will have it on launch, and with your 100 gift card thats a no brainer. PS how you getting messages from HTCsource?

Not trying to be an ass - I honestly don't get this:

Several folks on this thread have mentioned buying w/out a contract for $450. Why? Do they switch phones every couple of months or something?

If it's just that you don't want to be stuck with a contract, wouldn't it make more sense to take a contract, pay $100, and pay the $325 cancellation fee if and when you need to get out? That's still cheaper than full retail.

I understand the desire to go with buying the phone without extending another long contract, but when you're right, you're right. It is cheaper, and maybe something to look at for those buying it outright.

Some people don't have upgrades so they buy outright

thats a good question,

here are some reasons why people are buying this phone (or the atrix) out of contact:

1 - they work for AT&T (me lol)
2 - they got screwed with the captivate (some people didnt, but a lot did)
3 - they are phone whores. (me lol) They buy new phones, have them for 6 months, sell them on craigslist, and use the money to buy the latest and greatest
