Phone restarts automatically

That's interesting, I had no idea that there's AV software for the Droid.

Though I do find it completely unnecessary. The Droid IS a computer, true, but Android is Linux-based, and according to Wikipedia (which I trust completely! :) ), there are only about 100 viruses that work effectively on Linux. And I've never met any desktop Linux users that use antivirus. Coupled with the fact that Droid users who haven't rooted are even safer because the su account and the sudo command won't do anything at all, I don't see any reason for it.

Tune in here ... http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/32161-what-exploitable-vulnerabilities-does-droid-have.html ... for more discussion on AV on Droid. I'm with you, I think AV software would just drag down, and cause strange anomolies, on a perfect phone. Oh, I haven't rooted either.

My Droid was restarting spontaneously, too. I had installed a widget that kept my screen awake, and thought that might be the cause. I dragged the widget to the trash, but phone continued to restart. Is there another way to uninstall a widget?

I just uninstalled the antivirus (free version, which I updated last night), and will see if that solves the restarting problem. Thanks

AV software drags down ANY device. It's useless, too. I've used XP without an AV program since it came out and I have never had a virus. I just switched to Win7 a few weeks ago too. Even on Windows, AV software is absolutely useless. The best antivirus is knowing how to be smart and NOT download every random thing you find on the internet. And to use something besides Internet Explorer, of course. Cause you shouldn't be able to get viruses from browsing pages on the internet.

I had the same problem last night after updating the anti virus app. Also, my droid was constantly resending the same text messages, as well as receiving the same incoming text as well. I had 14 from my daughter. Same message. I had a heck of a time correcting the problem as the droid would reboot anytime I started to use it. I removed any app that I had installed an update to yesterday. Good to confirm that it was the anti virus program and not just my phone or a virus.
