impressive - definitely --- but not jumping on the bandwagon

all i can say is... wow!

i saw that 10min vid - smooooth!

definitely moving in the right direction!

but, c'mon HTC! make a phone w/ a HW kybd (and of course SenseUI)

!!

mmmmm.......nahh! disagree with you on sense UI

the thing slows the phone, is unnecessary, kluggy, and super tacky ! 7 screens is over kill! And come on man what's up with these ghetto bling analog clocks? Why would anyone waist so much home screen real estate on a tacky clock when the phone tells you the time in the upper right corner within the notification bar, not to mention the lock screen clock? How many clocks do people want on their phones? I bet you steve jobs fell on the floor from laughing so hard over the lagg of a tacky sense/senseless UI.

Think of it this way:
having an iphone is like driving a beamer.
Having a nexus is like driving a mercedes.
Either way you are the bomb! Classy !!!

Having a little mytouch or a g1 is like driving a honda. So you are not the bomb but you are still classy and cool.

Add sense ui to any of the above and your car gets totally blinged. So if it is a nexus, you ll look like snoop dog and if it's a g1 you d look like a snoop dog wannabe.

sense ui sucks and blows. a lot of people are thinking it but only a few are saying it. So I say IT! lol

Google dictated the design of this phone, not HTC, they just built it to Google's specs. If you want to blame someone for the phone's layout (I personally think it's ideal), look to Google.

whoa - sounds like you think i'm "blaming" someone for the nexus design

no, i'm not

all i'm saying is.. 1) i most DEFINITELY like the improvement in android but 2) for me to actually go out and lay out cash for a new phone, its going to need (first and foremost) a keyboard and (bling or no bling) sense UI

*edit*

but.. if given the choice of sense w/ no keyboard or keyboard w/ no sense...... i would take the phone w/ the keyboard

precisely - the senseUI (and its seven home screens - and if that's not enough, additional "scenes") is one of the main selling points of the hero imo

and.. as far as i'm concerned, the words "keyboard" and "accuracy" don't belong in the same sentence - a full qwerty slide-out kybd is an absolute MUST for my next phone

no compromise - no negotiation - no consideration

Actually, supporting a carrier with better national coverage would have been a good start to improving this thing. Might as well have built it with wifi-only support.

Two weeks ago I was firmly on your side with respect to keyboards. Got the G1 to follow up my Treo 680, and that was the way it was. Then I read about the N1 and tried an experiment: last 2 weeks I have only used the software kb on the G1. Amazingly, I found that I could get used to it and even get a little speed going. Good enough to be ready to buy the N1 with no second thoughts. Just sayin. . . .

yes yes yes....but this is where screen size comes into place! i like my touchpal VK on my mytouch but all of my mistakes/lack of accuracy are primarily related to the small size of the screen. the virtual buttons are simply too small for my fingers and mind you, i have average hands.
