Problems purchasing apps through the market...

I tried to purchase an app throught he market on my phone, but it doesn't seem to get forwarded to google checkout to make the transaction. I get sent to the account login page (the one for the phone, not google checkout) and then bounced back to the market page with the buy button. I already have my gmail account that is subscribed (for lack of a better term) to google checkout linked to my phone. Am I doing something wrong?

I've been having a similar problem except I am trying to purchase the GDE home screen replacement...

My credit card (American Express) keeps coming up as invalid... I have tried it several times on the Droid and from Google Checkout... I'm not sure what the problem is... I never carry a balance on my credit cards, so there's plenty of space to purchase apps...

You cannot purchase GDE with Amex because it is a foreign currency. Works fine with my VISA but something to do with Amex permissions wont allow it...
