Nexus One Invites

I'd love to get an N1 invite in case you have one to give.

Personally, that's one of the rumours that I have a hard time believing...

I do believe it, they already did something similar when the started GMail. I very much don't hope it.

If I were Google, all that would be required is having a gmail account. It would encourage folks who don't use gmail to sign up.

On the other hand, if they wanted to limit the initial release to test the waters regarding how their infrastructure will fare, invites make sense. Plus, you have to admit the invite tactic does generate buzz. If you monitor tweets regarding Google Wave, there are lots of tweets asking those who are already into that asking for invites.

i personally think that all the invites are already out (i.e. gizmodo and engadget already got theirs and broke it as a news story.) Then on the 6th ( after all the review places give it a fair and "unbiased" review) it will go public till sold out (6hrs tops)

i think the whole invite thing is just a marketing tactic. Its an easy, cheap, efficient way to generate word of mouth interest. it also makes the phone seem exclusive..and everybody always wants what they or others cant have. the phone interests me, but the carrier definitely is a deal breaker.
