HTC Stock Mail Client Replacement?

I've looked around the site a bit and played with a few different options
for a mail client replacement. They seem to all have a similar issue.
Maybe it's in the stock settings and I just haven't found it.

However - All I'm looking for is a Mail Client that doesn't start in my inbox.

Much like the iPhone Mail client where you can choose which Email Account to access. The first screen you see is a list of the accounts. Then you choose to access said account , it taking you to the inbox by selecting the account.

I'm not a fan of the force fed in box.

Am I missing a setting?
Or is there an Alternative?

Much Obliged

I hear that k9 and MailDroid but use up a lot of processor in the background?
K9 has an app specifically to kill the Background Data..

If I may - Is this true?
Does it cause a lag on the system?

You can set the polling in MailDroid from 5 minutes up.
I have mine set to two hours.
No, it doesn't eat CPU or battery, no more than the OEM app does.
