Bluetooth says "paired but not connected"

I tried to receive a file from an another phone, but the status on my Droid Eris kept saying "paired but not connected" even though I tried to connect many times. Please help. Thanks.

Have you tired to go to options by hitting the menu button and create pairing? If that is not an option then you must still be running official rom and can't pair with other devices other than the same kind of phone. Try to go to market and download Bluetooth File Transfer. Can't remember how it is exaqctly spelled but you should find it if do a search for file transfer.

I am having the same problems with my phone, but while trying to connect to my computer. I have the Bluetooth USB port (modem?). It says that they are paired but not connected.

After your phone finds a device it needs to create a pairing. So what needs to be done is that you go to your list of devices touch and hold the device you want to connect to and an option will appear. Now it should say create pairing and maybe even delete pairing depending on your phone. You want to create pairing and it should then say paired instead of connected but not paired. It is easier if you go to the Market and search for "file transfer" then install "Bluetooth File Transfer". My gmail is amayarenn@gmail.com if you need faster answers.

Bluetooth File Transfer won't work on the Eris. And, it's my understanding that you cannot transfer files through bluetooth period with the Eris, because Android OS 1.5 doesn't support it.

The G1 was the same way until I updated to 1.6 but even then still had a hard time transferring files. So what I did was root my phone. It runs faster and able to tether my phone to m.y laptop and use the unlimited internet on my phone to get internet on my laptop. You can root the Eris and be free of restrictions. Just go to theunlockr.com or check out xda-developers.com to find out how. Hope find this helpful. Plus if you need to turn your phone in for repairs you can always unroot your phone even the hack is a legal one some carriers won't. Accept it.

Pin number is usually 0000, but sometimes 1234. However, Android 1.5 doesn't support bluetooth file transfer, so even after entering the PIN you won't be able to transfer/receive files.

Eris can pair with things like Bluetooth headphones and devices like that, it just can't transfer files. Once we get our update in Q1, we'll be set to transfer just like Moto Droid users can!

The "paired but not connected" doesn't matter. I send and receive stuff all the time, all you have to do is accept the file from the person. Also, make sure you are discoverable.

The pin is anything you want it to be, just make sure the other person enters the same one if needed.

Nope, just open up the photo album you want, long press, then click share. Choose her device name and it will automatically send. She might have to accept the file first though.

EDIT: Long press the picture thumbnail you want, not the album.

I have a HTC Desire HD and already I had this problem .But what I did to get of rid it is when you are go to Menu/Settings/Wireless & networks then tick Bluetooth and go to Bluetooth setting and then tick Discoverable in this case you will see that timer goes to count for 120 sec So tell your friend to send to you a file via his bluetooth when you accept it and enter the Number which appears Go to sliding menu above of the screen and accept this action I think the last thing that you have to go sliding menu is most people forget to do it So cause that you cant transfer file
