Help why is my Hero so slow?

I've probably installed about six Apps. since I got my phone on Christmas Eve (Maybe a few more). I uninstalled a few as well, so I have to open up my list to see exactly how many are default vs. aftermarket. However, I did notice that some of them took my battery charge down quickly (I removed them), and some clogged up RAM (I removed them as well). My Hero is still moving along fast as usual at this point, and the only "lag" which I notice is when I first turn the screen back on after having left it in its sleep mode for an extended period of time. After one screen turn-on however, it works quickly once again (It's a handheld computer, so you can expect it to in many ways act similar to your Desktop/Laptop. Heck, sometimes it even needs a reboot).

It seems that my Hero is really slow lately, anyone have any idea? Thanks.

Your description of the problem could lead to many different conclusions as to why your "Hero is really slow lately". I really doubt if it is god, though I would not completely discount the wisdom of lldsandsll.

I just checked my Hero and my wife's Hero and both are fast. I have not done anything special to make my Hero so fast. It has been like this from day one.

its cuz u touch urself and god knows this
Pure awesome! Thanks for the laugh.

I run advanced task killer and when mine starts to lag, I go in there and kill off some of the things. I want to forewarn you though that task killers do not know know which apps are suppose to run and which are not. There are some apps that if you kill them you will not receive email or your alarm will not go off and you will be late to work. There is a good sticky on this forum for task killers taht explains all this.

My Hero was quite laggy until I was enlightened by one of the sticky threads in this forum. Basically what I did religiously was go into task killer and kill the apps I was no longer using. When in reality I was suppost to leave the apps alone and let the android OS allow them to sleep. That way when I go back into the app, it responds MUCH quicker and the lag goes away.

The HTC Location service has a bug in it where it keeps overlapping itself and boggs down your phone dramatically. Try this...

Turn off location and reset your phone, see if it clears up?

The new Fresh 1.1 ROM has the HTC location service removed completely and the phone is so fast now (android still has its own location that works fine)

You just need to turn location off, reboot the phone, then you can turn it back on. As was stated, there is an issue in 1.5 that keep stacking over time and it slows the phone down to a crawl. For people who do not reboot their phone often, they see the lag. This issue doesn't exist in 1.6 or 2.1, so when we get the upgrade to 2.1 you won't have the problem. Just de select all three locations for about 30 seconds, then you'll be fine. If it lags again, just repeat.

Exactly. Or, just keep location off until you actually need it for an app. Turn it on when you're going to use googlemaps, or whatever location app you have. Most apps like that will prompt you to turn it on before you open it, so its not a big deal to keep it off. I kept mine turned off until i actually used my GPS or something.
