-Excellent Build quality
-In hand feels much thinner than ipad because of the way it tapers
-Screen looked great
-Seems much smaller than Ipad has more height but width is less. I like dimensions of Xoom much better than ipad.

Honeycomb is everything you hoped it would be.

Everyone keeps talking about the USB host, there is no USB port other than the micro... would that work for what everyone wants?

Yes, but not at the moment. Apparently a forthcoming software update (maybe even the same one that enables the microSD card slot) will enable full use of the micro USB port as a host port (though you'll need a male-micro-B-USB-to-female-2.0-USB adapter cable to take advantage of these capabilities. If you Google "Motorola Xoom Camera Adapter" you'll see what Moto will be selling once this is enabled software-wise. Hopefully the XDA folks will get this squared away even faster ;)

I really want this enabled before I go on vacation so I can xfer my pics from my camera to the Xoom. I don't want to bring my netbook on vaca for a 3 day trip. But, that's only a few weeks away.

The same sites will be positively gushing next week about the same iPad with a front-facing camera, slightly faster processor, and the exact same grid of icons.

this is dead on correct. they hammered the galaxy tab for being a blown up phone but they sure didn't say the same thing about ipad which is exactly the same thing. nor did those sites hammer the ipad when it came out for its lack of tablet specific apps but the xoom sure got it.

however it was nice to hear both glorify the xoom battery, something i think most people were worried about, last thing i want is to be close to a power plug most of the time like i have to with my laptop.

My unboxing video. I was very excited (since I got it early) I rushed the video because I wanted to just play with the device.

Long story short I got LUCKY!!!!!! costco sold it to me, but at checkout it wouldn't ring out (since they arnt supposed to sell it yet) so a manager had to "force" a sale.

The Slashgear review is up as well. It seems very honest and objective.

Engadget just posted their review 22 minutes ago.
Motorola Xoom review -- Engadget

Keep your eyes open for more and keep 'em coming!

For a 7/10, they sure liked the XOOM in the narrative. I think that their issues will quickly be addressed by minor bug fixes (3.0.1?) and continued app development. We know that Google has been working with third party developers (nVidia Tegra Zone, etc) to create tablet-optimized apps, so it's just a matter of time.

Will it be a perfect launch? Probably not, but I have no worries about the software catching up. Google probably could have released the final SDK earlier though.

So Engadget's Review on the Motorola XOOM is out, check it here:

Motorola Xoom review -- Engadget

How do people feel about it? While Engadget praises many of the XOOM's features, and calls it a contender against the iPad, it does point out that too much is unfinished and while the product is spectacular... it is a spectacular work in progress.

Does this change anyone's mind about getting the XOOM in just hours from now? Being the first wave to adopt the 3.0 tablet market, does this review make you feel any less safe or comfortable with your soon-to-happen purchase?

I know I bought the Incredible on pre-order, and loved it. Followed it as the Nexus One for Verizon until it became the Incredible. Engadget however gave it a very favorable review. Will that be my experience again with the XOOM?

I'd like to hear all your thoughts :)

Out of box, 7/10 is fair. Microsd is not working, high price and no Flash at launch (a main point Moto touted for the Xoom being better than the iPad).

Get Flash on the device and the microsd working, a follow-up review should be done.

My guess is the big sales will be the wifi only version for $600. This version is doomed to mid-level sales at best. A lack of data-flex plan (on and off when you want it for each month) is a killer. VZW should reconsider this. Perhaps they will, if sales tank.
