With my BlackBerry Storm there was a (I think it was called) a custom dictionary. I was able to type something like "OMW=On My Way" in a text message and it would substitute the words "On My Way" for the letters "OMW"

Is there such a feature for the Droid with your application?
Thank you.

That's one of the features I do miss from my BB, and the Droid/Android does not have a similar feature as far as I've been able to determine.

It does have a standard dictionary which can be added to, but it doesn't have a substitution dictionary like the BB custom dictionary. I had several shortcuts defined similar to yours that I used a lot and I miss them... <sniff> ;)

Maybe that will come to the Droid in the future...I believe that the Touchpal keyboard on WinMo has that capability, if and when Touchpal is released again for the Droid and updated it will also be able to do that.

That might be worth it - I don't have typos as much as I have DROID thinking it knows what I want to type when it really doesn't....

There are times when I get frustrated b/c DROID will randomly select an unrelated (or semi-unrelated) word to what I am actually typing, and that frustrates me to no end.

If Swype allows for learning, then I am definitely gonna have check it out.

hanks for the tip, m13
