Root X2..is root & flashing going to be possible

since im still new to rooting and flashing i dont have as much knowledge as some of y'all. my question is about the proposed DX2. is it true that it will come with a....forgive me if i say this wrong.....locked bootloader? if this is true, will rooting and flashing not be possible?

basically, what is a bootloader?

im glad you posted that, if the bionic is in essence the same way, i think i will be looking at HTC to be my primary phone, sure im still relatively new to all this, but from the looks of it, getting the X to be unlocked is on its way, after 6 months or so after release, maybe the atrix and bionic wont be as hard, but im done trying, i think i would go straight to HTC since motorola doesnt believe in the actual open handset policy as to what android is.

Moto's ideology, in itself, is off-putting to me. They are actually trying to make it harder. I'd rather get a Nexus S at this point.

well making it harder makes the dev community work much harder and developing new skills to crack the locked down imoto (<--see that haha) and once they get this issue resolved motorola will then come at them with much more difficult ways to do it. its going to be an on going battle with devs tryin to crack motos padlock, and moto developing new ways to say no thanks we like our devices locked down thank you very much

Did you read the link I posted? It seems to contradict that assertion.

Nonsense...there was a time when people believed even attempting to gain root on the X would turn your phone into a 4.3" paper weight....and here we are with some AWESOME choices for ROMs and progress towards new kernels...

The Atrix, Bionic, and X2(if it exists), will ALL get rooted...

Again, did you read the link? The partitions are signed which means putting different/modified files in them will bootloop. My problem is not with this implementation (cos I'm sure XDA, probably, will crack it). My problem is with the intent. But w/e, we're all entitled to buy what we want. Just spreading forwarding the info.

whatever it happens to be I as a avid root and rom person will NOT be buying a Motorola device until Motorola changes their practices... there are way better options out there for people into these things that doesn't take half a year to get to... but with the new motoblur looking better than the past I will always recommend a Motorola phone to a basic user since they seem to be the better phones with the OEM staying up on keeping new versions of android out in a timely manner and supporting their devices like the droid 1 till the bitter end...

yes i read the link, and yes i understand where you're coming from....My point is just that we were told all of this when people first started fiddling with the X...that it was impossible...and look where we are...

Android devs will just have to learn new tricks...

Not sure why you quoted me...or what you're trying to prove with the link...that bit of information should not come as even a slight surprise to anyone...Motorola has no responsibility to support your device once its been rooted or messed with...

A rooted X with a custom ROM can't be updated...why would a XOOM??

You keep insisting that peeps do not read your post ????

Please answer me a few questions.................. IF someone does crack the boot loader..............what will that mean to you? What exactly do you think a boot loader is? What will you be able to do to the phone that can not be done currently?

I am using my X with only the blur i want and constantly keep changing everything i would ever want to change.
