Root Step by Step Rooting Instructions: for Huawei Ascend

How long do I have to wait for the phone to be rooted with the z4root mod? it just says, "running exploit in orderto obtain root access" I have wifi turned on and my usb plugged into the phone to ensure connectivity in every way (maybe that's the problem). But anyway, I need help. Anyone?

When this happens you need to uninstall Z4 and reinstall and run it again. The second time is usually the charm, even though most users are successful the first time.

i have a lot of apps and games thats why i purchased the 8 sd card. i have backed up all my stuff and removed all the bloatware with titanium back up. according to titanium back up i have 12mb free internal and 4.98gb free sd card. so now how do i move them to the sd card for more space?

The market has an app available called File Manager. It is the first one you will see when you do a search for it and it's an all white icon.

With FM app you can easily move your apps around.

Hi ventovic!!! Thanks so very much for your nice post. I have become a very big Cricket fan, as you can tell from reading my posts. And also I'm obsessed with learning more and more about Huawei. Maybe you can help to shed some light on when Cricket might be getting some new Huawei phones, like the X3, X5 or (I wish!!!) X6. That would be so nice!

Your welcome and I am becoming a fan of Cricket myself, I have been with Boost for around seven years and they came out with an android phone and fell in love with android, but it was Iden and very slow unless I was on WiFi plus it was 1.5 with no future update , so I put a sprint touch pro on my boost account and work it out to where I could boot it into froyo 2.2, but the screen was so small and not finger friendly, Anyway It took me awhile to switch to cricket being with boost so long but glad I did. loving my ascend, its fast and the service is cheap :)
Now I have read from pcmag.com that the x5 will be coming in later this year, at least thats what they said on Jan. 8th, haven't heard anything on the x6, but yes that would be nice

Hello, I don't have any reason not to be able to do this mod but I am a little confused as to why I can not download it directly from the market via my ascend. I have read about 500 entries and I am a little leary of the one that had some gibberish about a virus. I like the phone and would not mind making changes to enhance the performance and usability, but spending about 15 on TiBU and making a brick is not my idea of fun.
Any advice?

If you don't feel right about downloading it then I wouldn't do it. It does give you the ability to do things and use apps that you can only use if you are rooted. Yeah I would think that by now someone would have developed an app that would do it but it does void the warranty so that could be why they haven't.

I do not use an antivirus app on my phone as they are almost as bad as having a virus IMO. LOL

If something happens to my phone I will just wipe it and start fresh. But I think that getting a virus is the least of your worries. :)

Just wanted to say thanks Jazz for being on top of this. I rooted, and installed the Titanium Pro, I guess I have to wait for the card to verify? idk, so im downloading the free Titanium for now. Then the cpu app? or is that in the titanium?
Ill figure it out and keep you posted :)

Hey Virgo! Congrats! The free TiBu should be fine as long as you read the first post instructions again on how to be sure to backup all your system apps and data first, etc. Then you can uninstall without worry. :)

Also, SetCPU is separate from TiBu. Let us know what happens!

Hi Stikman! I think those who had a prob with Metro Mail had the probs right away so you are probably safe. As for temp vs permanent rooting it really doesn't make any difference that I know of.

I've been permanent rooted since day one. No probs at all. You can unroot anytime even if you have permanently rooted.

Hope that helps!

You might be good too if those programs aren't active, I did both from the store and like to monitor it myself. Or get a cpu monitor, i just added, well the Juice defender and cpu boost. you Can have it sync, update etc.. on a time sched.
I just rooted today too and i guess checking out different apps to tweak around, no problems yet and and it does perform better.

I haven't tried to scrap the metro stuff.... yet lol. Just what Jazz had listed. And no bubbles no troubles

The rooting process seems simple enough.

Backup and Restore using Titanium Backup (Attribute: UBRocked)

I have no idea what he is talking about most of the time.

Is using Titanium Backup really this difficult?

If you can't understand his directions, watch the tutorial video to learn more. I have just added it to the OP.

No, it isn't difficult at all! It's very easy to do as you can see from most of the comments on the thread.

Watch the video and see if it helps you.

Z4root is off the Market. What app do I use for rooting?

Titanium PRO KEY root ($6.14) freezes apps. Does the free Titamium Backup root (free)?

no the free version will not freeze your programs only paid version but if you go here http://androidforums.com/ascend-all...-step-rooting-instructions-huawei-ascend.html there will be a like to click to get z4root, and you have to connect your phone to the computer using your usb and drag the file to your sd card and install it. make sure you have usb debugging check.

Just rooted my phone. Thank you.

I seem to be having a problem with the Titanium Pro Key Root. It has an empty apps tab, an empty log tab, and a setting tab.

I don't see: "Tap the tab in the middle that says Backup/Restore".

What am I doing wrong?
