Root Step by Step Rooting Instructions: for Huawei Ascend

Z4root is off the Market. What app do I use for rooting?
Titanium PRO KEY root ($6.14) freezes apps. Does the free Titamium Backup root (free)?

Hi la sal! In the first post in this thread it tells you how to get the z4root from the xda developer forum. I highly recommend following those instructions as I know they work very well and have been tested by many others and have a high success rate!

Titanium Backup Pro is the best choice but you can uninstall with the free version. I recommend watching the Video in the OP on Titanium Backup. It explains a lot. Be careful what apps you uninstall/freeze. The list is in the second and third post down from the beginning. Good luck! :)

no the free version will not freeze your programs only paid version but if you go here http://androidforums.com/ascend-all...-step-rooting-instructions-huawei-ascend.html there will be a like to click to get z4root, and you have to connect your phone to the computer using your usb and drag the file to your sd card and install it. make sure you have usb debugging check.

Thanks nuttmeg! Gosh, if I had just read your post I wouldn't have even have had to answer the first one! Good job! :D

Thanks Jazziette, this is a wonderfully useful post

Thank you sooo much! Makes me feel my efforts were worthwhile! Cheers! :)

Its been a couple days and I like it. It does free up a lot. I haven't played with the wifi a whole lot yet but everything else runs nice B) . My daughters gonna root hers and run the launcher and the other programs. Definitely Rocks.

Im running the free version Titanium, I bought the pro but havent ran it yet. It works nice.

cpu and juice a def must have too.

Thanks so much for sharing Virgo! :) Do you have MetroPCS or Cricket? Makes a big difference doesn't it?

I am rooted with z4root. Is there a font changer available and how would I change the font?

Hey Redd! Are you using the stock launcher still? I suggest you try LauncherPro or GO Launcher. If you click on menu and then preferences it will give you the opportunity to change your font.

Just rooted my phone. Thank you.

I seem to be having a problem with the Titanium Pro Key Root. It has an empty apps tab, an empty log tab, and a setting tab.

I don't see: "Tap the tab in the middle that says Backup/Restore".

What am I doing wrong?

I don't know anything about Titanium Pro Key Root. I'm sure it's good but I can't offer any support as I used z4root. Let us know what you find out. Okay?

was rooting about to remove home screen, seen launcher, adw, and one that yall did not mention that i have found is called go launcher. any comments on go launcher? ive noticed it has the best rating out of the three and was wondering if it is merely a skin or is it a totally separate home screen like adw and launcher?? want to get the best one first before i finish up. ty for any feed back =)

I LOVE GO Launcher! It's a separate launcher like stock and ADW and LPP. I can't say that it's the best one but it's my preference. The other two are very good too. I wouldn't NOT remove my stock launcher if I were you, but remove any widgets from it before you switch to another launcher or they will be running in the background even if you have the new one set to defautl. Good luck! :)

The way that I got the z4root was not by using USB and debugging from computer and the drag/drop method, though that would be easier, in the long run I found the dolphin browser mini does the job quite well. all you do is type the link into the browser and it redirects you to the same page you can get the file from, just scroll down and click on file and, whoops! it asks you to register an account on the forum, no way around that, just a small fee for free i say. after you make account on computer all you have to do is logg in on your phone from dolphin and with wifi connection it DLs the file in less then 10 seconds.

wow jazziette you are on your game with the fast and helpfull replies. well all is good, went with launcher as the canvas. reading into more tweakable things to do with rooted phones, ive seen things such as kernels and roms. i understand the roms right now and was thinking about going with icurus, seems to be the most simple, aside for the few random market crashes, as dully noted in the video lol. whats with the kernels though? says required for overclocking the phones CPU.... any advice/insight? thanks again jazz, florida sends you much dapps & love.

Okay...please do this for me:

1. click on 'menu' and then 'applications' and then 'running processes'. Tell me what you have running please.

2. check all applications for updates - see if there is an update for TiBu

3. did you overclock your CPU? If so please reduce it to 528Mhz max and 145 Mhz min just for now

4. then we will take the next step
