Okay, consider this an extension of the previous "before January" thread. With CES looming, it sounds like the Droid Devour (Moto Calgary) is almost a definite. What else is out there? Possible Passion or Incredible? Motorola Shadow (tablet phone)?

What can we expect from Verizon for the first quarter 2010? Discuss.

Ew. Just ew.

yeh that one is not even considered for me.

the shadow/mirage phone looks like the next 'highend' phone although i wouldn't bet any money onto when it will b released, and it has features that are way beyond me that i need for a phone ;\ haven't heard anything from htc so i dont suppose anything will be coming out in the very near future (nexus one). motorola seems to be the one pushing androids out like a trailer park girl pushing babies out, but im not too confident in their lineup at CES. at first i was sure it was the sholes tablet (would have been a good choice), but that doesn't sound too good now. now it seems like their going the way of the opus one (ugly ugly phone) or the motorola droid devour (omg). what do you think we're going to get for verizon in terms of phones at CES for the near future? with the leaked news of the devour coming in different colors, it seems like that one is the best bet because it was rumoured to be the next android phone of verizon in 2010. but damn, that thing is pitiful :(

only 3-4 days and we can put these rumours to rest for awhile. and i can finally get my droid :p

btw, i wonder what motorola is going to show at the superbowl commercial? will it just be their 'line-up' of android phones with the droid?

Not saying its the more beautiful things I ever saw or that I'd get it. I'm finding it interesting though. Mainly because of this pic

Doesn't the bottom of that home screen look somewhat familiar? Also with the keyboard out it looks like the Droid. Then its the Vphone on Verizon along with previous rumors this was going to be the third Android on Verizon. Seems odd that Verizon would have gone with a nobody firm. I'm just wondering if someone is being sneaky.

I think it's horrible, and possibly photoshopped. Yes, the touch of Sense looks familiar. HORRIBLE photoshop.

uhm... i was planning on buying the droid in the next 2 days, then someone informs me (FatedDistress) that the sholes will be coming out very soon from motorola? with an 880mhz processor? i dont understand, i heard nothing of the sholes after the 'confirmed' report that it would be a dual launch - one in china and one in russia. and that the next android phone would be the devour....

anyone know anything about this? i know he said htc was planning on mid-jan release of some passion phone or whatever u want to call it, and then said april... i can't wait till april and i dont know how reliable this information is.

anyone got some info on this? and if motorola doesn't 'announce' it on the 6th at their conference thingy, wouldn't that put this rumor to rest for a while? what do u guys think. i still need a phone!!

motorola is holding a thing similar to what google is doing on the 6th. one day AFTER googles event and one day before CES starts to address the future of android and their products. this does include the 'two new' phones coming, one for verizon (devour) and one for ATT.

as for the rumoured passion/dragon/incredible/blah/blah/blah, if you don't hear something about it from google tomarrow, i highly doubt your going to hear anything from CES on it considering htc is focused on the n1 and the new "android tablet" to compete with apple's iSlate. CES is also supposed to be much lower in attendance this year in terms of visitors and lots of events, like the htc, is going to be private only to show off a couple things. it's also been stated that the passion is just the same as the n1 but it is the european version. and the rumoured 'mid january' release of passion/whatever by whoever it was that kept talking about it on here re-stated that he was wrong and it will be coming out in april.

the android tides for verizon doesn't look like its moving anywhere until later this year, and most likely by motorola. we'll find out all the answers by the 6th im assuming. and assuming they just release the devour (confirmed to be the 3rd android phone for verizon), im going with the droid.

the reason why saygus is making a phone is
1. they are using verizons open developement which was released in 2007.
2. they wanted to market thier video conferacing technology, and who better to do it than them.

if you really want to know about the phone go to thier website they have specs, photos, and videos. to answer all your questions.

So, I guess the Passion/Nexus One is coming to Verizon at the end of Q1 or in Q2 for sure. Is anyone going to wait for it?

definitely not waiting, no specific release date leaves verizon to play with the time they have and they are good with playing with time :x

im gonna wait for the motorola thing tonite (not that i expect anything new) but then im gonna get the droid tomarrow - one thing tho is that im gonna opt for the 1-year contract (60 bucks more, or like 5-6 bucks more a month) even tho i always do 2-year this will be an exception.

I think we might see it sooner. Vodafone, also noted for Spring availability, said a few short weeks. That "Spring 2010" is probably just a vague, conservative timeline to give opportunity to get things in line. I will say this, if HTC/Google are taking care of the hardware, where's the FCC approval? They make it sound like the hold up would be Verizon straightening out the billing set up but we have no hardware yet through the FCC. And on a side note, the current N1 is showing the QSD8250 processor which is GSM-only. A CDMA-based N1 would have to use the QSD8650 so there must be an entirely different build.

Regarding FCC. I just refreshed the FCC releases for today and an LG phone popped up. LG gave their CES press conference this morning so maybe this is a trend. In other words, don't expect to see the phone hit the FCC prior to the company announcing it at CES, they don't want to be upstaged by a technical document. Big question is when is HTC's press conference at CES.
