Nookbook App

How many of you have downloaded the Nookbook App from Barnes & Noble? I started by downloading a free e-book (Star Wars - Lost Tribe of the Sith).

I was a little disappointed in the number of e-books that you can buy is quite limited. Would love to download a lot more Star Wars novels.

I have it.. had to go through hoops to get it since its not available on the Canadian market. It's not bad though. I tend to use it most when I'm stuck at the office between meetings or at lunch or something, but the screen is just way too small on my DZ to read them regularly. I tend to stick to my nook when work sends me off to places unknown for any length of time, because being stuck in a hotel room and not wanting to be outdoors and exploring the area in the dead of winter really sucks.

If you're on facebook, join the nook group that B&N has. Every Friday they have 1 or 2 free books they're giving away. It's hit or miss, but unfortunately most times its miss, unless you're into the trashy grocery store check-out novels.

There are a TON of books you can purchase though. I've found almost everything I was looking for (I read lots of historical fiction and history type books as well as fantasy).

They do need a wider selection of fantasy/sci-fi books though, although I haven't looked much into the sci-fi selection since its really not my thing. If they came out with star wars ones, and I knew what the proper order was to read them, I'd be all over them though.

B & N has one of the largest selections of books. I literally have over 90% of the star wars books on my shelf already so i never really checked for them as ebooks. Still haven't read Fate of the Jedi series as i would like for it to be finished first. Probably read close to 400 star wars books already

Just started reading the book Star Wars: The Old Republic: Fatal Alliance yesterday. Enjoy reading the Old Republic era. Someone needs to write Palpatine's story.

Haven't started that yet. Love TOR era though. And i think the palpatine story is one of those things that lucas hasn't let anyone write about for a reason, kind of how he made whats-her-face stop writing about boba fett. Think he is planning something for those parts of the timeline

FYI, the Nook app can read books from other libraries too. Project Gutenberg ePub files, Google Books, digital checkouts from your local library, Baen Books free library, lots of places. In fact, you can go to Project Gutenberg - free ebooks online download for iPad, Kindle, Nook, Android, iPhone, iPod Touch, Sony Reader from your phones browser, find a book you want, download it to the phone, then move it from the download location to sdcard/Nook/MyDocuments, then when you open the Nook app, it will be in My Files. I've done this with 2 different books so far, worked fine. Also just got my Nook ereader in the mail today, so now I need to figure out how to sync it and the phone app so I can pick up on one where I left off on the other.

You may have to turn on wifi on the nook or something. My wife was having that problem with her Kindle not keeping her kindle app up to date on her phone. She noticed it would sporadically update. Finally she realized it would update when she turned on the wifi to download new books.

I always have wifi on for my Nook tablet so I think Sprint's laggy 3G might be the issue with the slow updates to my Nook app on my Epic.
