Spyware on my phone

If you are certain you have spyware on your phone, then starting from your home screen:

Press the menu button (lower left hand of the phone)

Select Settings

Select Applications

Select Manage Applications
--------------------------------------

You can uninstall the app from here, but if you aren't sure WHICH app you have installed, simply list them all and we will help you figure it out.

Honestly, what I would do is wipe the phone clean and start from scratch, then once it's back up and running add some security to it. Perhaps search the Market for an app that forces you to enter a code to unlock the screen instead of the connect-the-dots thing??

Oh, and if you truly think she's spying on you, try to get proof first (search the phone for a spy app if you can) then go to her with your proof and tell her that (as mentioned above) no trust = no relationship.

He could be talking about Google sync for all we know.

No, he isn't - I've checked it out. My girlfriend is being harassed by a criminal thug who has been in a mental hospital. There are multiple stalker/spyware apps out there for the android. And no one will stop it until she is hurt or killed. A guy in Chicago just used software like this to stalk a girl and then he tracked her and killed her. This is fully evil software.

It has me SERIOUSLY angry at Android and so I'm done with their OS until they make it secure - at least have a novice level where this cannot be installed.

I am in the process of trying to find some working malware/spyware removal tools. Seriously, this is beyond some sad guys worried about infidelity nonsense, this is being used by some very SICK individuals (as I mentioned) and it is easy to put on the device.

I have been to the police but they are technically incompetent to deal. Much of it is hidden at such a deep level you have to wipe everything to get rid of it. And even then it might survive in the cloud.

All you doubters are just plain stupid. Sorry, but you are not informed.

So far I have tried AVG, but I am not sure if that will do it. Looking now and will hopefully find something.

The criminal I am talking about has already used this to determine when she isn't home so he can break into her house. And to listen to her calls and harass her friends.

If someone has experience with removing this crap, be a decent person and tell us how to get rid of it. You actually may be saving someone's life.

Examples of this alleged spyware please?

So how do you know who the as you put it the criminal thug is and that he was in a mental hospital? Seems like you know too much detail but yet the cops refuse to help? Show us these apps that has these programs in them. You wont because they dont exist. Go back to playing with your iphone.

Security is an understandable concern, but let's put things into perspective here.

all they need is access to their google account to install anything from the market remotely.

True if the account is compromised to the extent of the user name/password being known to another party.

All it takes it's to forget to log out.
True only if the other party has access to the handset/PC used to log-in and "Stay signed in" is selected. The Market account cannot be accessed from another PC, even if the user is signed in on another, without entering the correct user name/password.

The "....successfully installed" notification that appears after a remote Market install should also be a giveaway that something has happened. Afaik that is unavoidable with Market apps.

Finally, I'll note that the OP not only gave no further details of his "spyware" but hasn't been active since his last post in this topic, and also that the thread was brought back to life by a newly-registered member with the username "iphoneuser1". I can be as sympathetic as the next person, but given the above I'm intrigued how a "criminal thug" managed to install such software on another person's handset without their knowledge.
