Over Half a Million Nexus S' Sold!

Good(ish) news everyone. According to the 0.8% share Android 2.3 has of the entire Android platform, it would seem that the Nexus S has sold somewhere around 500 thousand units (as of February 2nd). These sales figures aren't anything amazing, but at least it's not a complete flop.

I know that I was a little afraid that poor sales would mean developers might ignore the Nexus S when it came to app optimizations and such, despite it being a developer device. 500k in 1.5 months isn't too bad, and it gets bonus points for being geared toward developers.

I don't mean to be a party pooper but, Nexus One has 2.3 now as do the Modding community.

Surely figures like this which come from access to the Market etc would in fact include these?

Please correct me if I'm wrong...

I did consider that. I figured the modding community with custom gingerbread ROMs would be mostly negligible in the version share chart. As for the Nexus One, the Market data they use is from the middle of January to the start of February, which is before the N1 officially had 2.3.

The overall Android smartphone sales figure I used was from the end of 2010, at 73 million units sold. I rounded this down to 70 million. This figure also didn't account for tablets sold, which would slightly offset the 2.3 version share as well. I figured these two points should adequately counter the custom ROM users.
