Root Do my eyes decieve me?

It's just a deodexed rom, nothing too fancy or anything.

And if you're wondering what that means, its also on xda

xda forums said:
De-odex: Apk files have respective odexes that devs use to supposedly save space. Deodexing means you convert it back to a .dex file and put it back inside the apk. This allows you to easily replace files (not having to worry about odexes), but the main point was to deodex services.jar so that you can change all text to different colors (such as the clock color to white) and to deodex services.jar, you need to deodex everything.

I'm using it soley becasue with it the webtop mod works great. BUT BE WARNED, there is no way to return to stock at the momeny unless you really know what you are doing. But really (and knowing DG's work with the captivate) this is not a rom but a set of system files that makes everything work better. Heck I get (and I say this hiding from DG's fish flinging skills) 2900+ quadrant scores where I get 2500ish with the stock setup.

EDIT
Another big warning, on the 1st of the rom's thread is this:
So if you go this path, there may be no future way to get back to stock

Still ROMed? Stikk running Ok? Also, is there a way to save a stock ROM to revert back to?

well.. if you call gingerbread an update... also is it even planned beside the gratuitous "it will come out after it's released". I still guess Q4 2011 maybe Q1 2012. Motorola is very slow on updates. Also expect the gingerbread update to be the one and only update until their next phone comes out.

Very good point and I agree there, considering how long it took motorola/AT&T to come out with the update for the backflip, plus adding how long it took AT&T to release the update for the aria and the captivate, I'm guessing once google has 3-4 more versions, we see 2.3 from AT&T. Who knows, maybe they will suprise us, but not expecting AT&T to do that.

Edit/Update 1: Just wanted to share what I have learned. More info after a lot of reading and driving a few devs nuts with questions (Designgears mostly).

The issue with the ROM is that by replacing the files with the deoxed ones, the MD5 hash check will fail, (each file has its own MD5). Motorola's update does a MD5 check on all of the system files and when it finds ones that do not have the correct MD5, the update fails. So all you have to do is put the backup original apk and odex files back (which also removes the hacked files) and the update will pass. So if you do use this rom, make sure you create a backup of your backup in a VERY safe location.

Update/Edit 2: The system dump's files have the same MD5's as the ones on my phone, so worst case, you can restore your files using the system dump and you should be good.
