Hello Eris users (and former Eris users ;)). I just thought I'd drop in to make my 10,000th post here where I started at Android Forums.

That was almost 14 months ago, but it seems more like 14 days or so, if you know what I mean.

It's good to see so many Eris uses still with their devices, and it's very good to see the usual very helpful people coming here to lend assistance, doogald, Demache, erisuser1, ScareyAlien, etc.. you guys make the Eris world go around. ;)

Frisco,

10k is pretty impressive...congrats and thank you for continuing your guidance and contributions not only here but in the other forums too! Glad you have stayed in touch with your "roots" ;).

Yeah, the OTA mania from the early months of 2010 was a sight to behold. I didn't make my first post until after rooting when the 2.1 OTA first came out, but I did enjoy lurking and reading all of the speculative threads and posts about the OTA and the 2.1 leaks. I also downloaded them, just in case...;), but thankfully never "leaked" :p.

By the way, I'm thinking of installing a task killer...what does everyone think about that? :p :) ;) :D

I installed leak 1 two days before root was achieved. :( I am watching the update threads but not like I was last year.

dude...that had to have sucked! I waited it out like Frisco (but I was awful tempted, I must admit).

Wow. Frisco I remember when you were happy with 1.5 and getting warnings from mods :)

I missed whatever posts may have elicited such warnings (from our normally mild-mannered, but very eloquent yet outspoken Frisco), but I remember seeing "On Probation" under his name . For a while, I thought it was self-imposed title as protest against "The Man" ;). Still curious though...:D

Yeah, it was my sub-title.

I love messing with that sub-title. ;)

No, it was kind of like the guy who gets pulled over for rolling through a stop sign or whatever, and then, because he was feeling grouchy in the first place, argues with the cop who was just going to give him a warning. Not a smart thing to do. Ticket time! :D

I'm trying my best to get an Eris to get back on the saddle - after using a RAZR2 for an unemployed year. But they are hard to find away from eBay and for less than an astronomical price.

Ugh.

The search continues.

I may have a good quality Eris for sale soon.
I've been working overtime a lot lately, and I got a tip from a little birdie that my wife is planning on buying me a Thunderbolt for my birthday in May.

There are a few dings and scratches, nothing major, and my trackball works perfectly. PM me in May if you're still looking.

edit:
Just checked the price of a new Incredible on Verizonwireless.com and it's $529 retail, which I would be paying since I have no upgrade yet. Holy crap! I can only imagine what a Thunderbolt would cost. Maybe I'll be getting a used Incredible from ebay for my birthday instead of a Thunderbolt. I've seen lots of those between $200 and $250, many of which say they are mint. Either way, my Eris will be for sale. :)

And what is the deal with the refurbished Incredible being the same $529 as the new Incredible?

Agreed! Hence why i'm having so much trouble getting one.

PZ

I'm tempted to ship you mine, but it would need some work to be activated. It's rooted and on an old version of CyanogenMod.

It's in perfect shape, over clocked just right, fast, etc.

I presume you're on Verizon. You'd have to spend some time getting things as they should be to get service to it. I use it on wifi only, as I have a Fascinate now.

I remember the days when I was constantly in the Eris threads looking for the next big thing. It seems like just yesterday that Frisco, OftheDamned, Caddyman and myself were all over these threads trying to help anyone who asked for it. Since I've moved to the DX forums I've really missed the real "community" feeling that the Eris section had.

Congratulations on 10,000 posts Frisco!

Thanks, JrzDroid.

I think you hit the nail on the head about the Eris community as compared to some other device sections here, as far as how it feels to us.

We have to be careful about that, though. It's possible that those other forums have the same feel to the old timers there. I've found that the regulars in Fascinate seem tightly knit, with many of them meeting and interacting in other venues, such as chat and irc.

But, yes.. Eris will remain my Android Forums home. *sigh*
