AT&T customers... Are you buying the Nexus One?

I'm curious to see how many AT&T customers will buy this phone considering it is EDGE only if you don't switch plans.

Will you be buying the phone, even if it is EDGE only? (considering you have 3G in your area)

Are you going to switch over to T-Mobile, or Verizon?

As an AT&T customer who can't switch carriers, I pretty much knew it probably wasn't heading to AT&T, or have the banding.

Personally I think if you have 3G in your area (that's adequate) maybe the Nexus One isn't the best phone to get. But then again, the feature is impressive.

I know my friend who is looking for the next best thing is NOT switching from his iPhone to an N1 because to him, the N1 doesn't represent as good a deal as what he got with his iPhone. In other words, the N1 isn't the offering that would yank him away from at&t and the iPhone.

I've ordered a Nexus One and I'm an AT&T customer. I've not decided yet what I'm going to do though.

My options:
1) Just use my AT&T SIM and live without 3G.
2) Drop my AT&T data plan, reduce my family minutes, and get a T-Mobile SIM for ~$60 a month, use Google Voice for calling. Almost a wash.
3) Drop my AT&T plans, convert the family to T-Mobile. Probably cheaper.
4) Sell my T-Mobile Nexus One when there is a decent AT&T Android Phone!

I'm leaning toward #1 or #2.

I think I will at some point. I'm not exactly made of cash, so it'll be a while, but I think I will. I have had AT&T and I don't have too many complaints about them, not nearly as much as I've heard about Verizon and T-Mobile, so I think I'll be sticking. I think that Google and Android have a huge potential to take over a lot of the AT&T market, provided they can partner with AT&T. I would have bought a Nexus One TODAY if AT&T was offering it, even if it only had EDGE. My brother just bought a HTC HD2 from Europe and it only has EDGE and it's still blazing fast compared to my current phone (a Nokia 6555 :(). So yes, I believe I'll buy it since it is an incredible phone, but I'm not exactly thrilled at the price.

Either that or an unlocked Milestone...

yeah, i was hoping the rumors about a "second" unlocked phone with AT&T 3G band were true, then i would have definitely bought it today for $530

now that i know there's no 3G for N1, i may wait for the Milestone to hit Telus and buy that unlocked and use it with AT&T...i've been with AT&T for over 5 years and haven't had any problems mainly b/c of my location has great coverage

right now, i am still pondering about getting it for EDGE and if and when google allows VoIP, i may switch over to that

I was really hoping N1 would be the game changer we were hoping for with google, but someone succumbed to the pressure and decided not to put the AT&T 3g band on there...so Tmo gets the deal and later verizon will get one and so when the verizon one comes I'll think about jumping AT&T for them, but not Tmo... but this is just business as usual special deals for certain companies instead of giving us the autonomy we crave.

I'm a current At&t customer that is really wanting an android phone. I can't see spending $530 for an edge phone, I live in Dallas, so I have 3G all over the place. I'm not going to settle for what I consider second best. Basically I would be happy with a droid eris, or droid without no physical keyboard, or a 3G Nexus. I have looked into switching to T-mobile or Verizon, but I know as soon as I do that, At&t is going to release an android.

that's an old rumor dated Jan 2

it there were to be an ATT version, they would have mentioned it yesterday at the convention as they mentioned Verizon and Vodafone

ATT has 5 android lined up (Dell Mini 3, HTC Lancaster, Motorola back flip, these 3 are most likely) with other two i am not sure about

those 3 aren't good phones compared to the Iphone, Droid, or N1

Agree that those 3 aren't good phones, I am willing to jump ship with At&t because of the lack of android phones, and potentially terrible ones rumored to come out. I want to go with T-mobile, but the lack of ability to buy the nexus one and use it with a family plan at a resonable price (full price for the phones, plus cancelation charges to At&t), makes me not want to do that, for obvious reasons.

you could wait for the Motorola Milestone to be released by Telus Canada and buy an unlocked version of that since both Telus and ATT use the same 3G band

True, not looking to spend $700 or so on that phone, I really like the droid and have friends that really like it. I want a phone without a physical keyboard. Like the Nexus, except with 3G for At&t. Surely either T-mobile or Google is going to come up with some other options for those of us wanting to sign new contract for a family plan and get a better price. If I was to buy two Nexus one phones for $530 each, pay to cancel my Iphone and Blackberry with At&t, and then sell them both, then go with T-mobile I would be out about $600 after I sold my other phones. No way I will do that. Plus looking at T-mobiles different plans is really confusing, with contract, without contract.

The only one I would consider sticking with AT&T for is the HTC Bravo, but we don't know if that is the "exclusvie" HTC phone they are getting...the Dell and Motorola phones are pure crud so we have one last shot first half here for AT&T to get it right. I dont see them doing so...

On another note their CES announcement actually worried me..seems they want to try and take the kind of stranglehold on their android systems as apple has with their dev system...I think it's time to jump ship, but Tmo really isnt a good option for me so Verizon it probably will have to be :(
