From eBay: $600 - 8% cashback = $552.

From Google (NY for example): 529 + 8.75% tax = $575.29

Im was hoping to get it on ebay cheap, but was shocked to see the prices there. Anyone think prices will go down on ebay? Things are usually cheaper than retail over there.

Droid does not have native multi-touch, the Milestone has native multi-touch. Unless you're just gonna root it.

BTW, things on eBay are always usually more expensive, imo. There are tons of people out there trying to fool uninformed customers.

Ye, I was always going for the milestone, I've just got into the habit of saying droid/milestone cuz most people dont know what the latter is!

I'm not in any rush to buy it though, especially since an android 2.0 ROM is on the way for the Galaxy, so if I don't win this bid i'll just wait for the right one to appear.

Yeah not much chance of getting a new release phone cheaper on Ebay. All sorts of reasons for the high prices:

Ignorance to other availability.
Not available in your area.
Don't want to get locked in a contract.
Other ways to pay than CC.
Etc...

PP and Ebay double dip on fees. Youre looking at 45-60 $ on fees alone for a 600$ final bid.

Considering Ebay wont even allow you to say "money order" and PayPal holds your money for 21 days sellers are almost forced to jack up prices since the double dip is mandated.

Its possible but either...

a. they dont realize what the fees are going to be (if you havent been on ebay in awhile you wouldnt))

b. They received them in a state with no tax thus can price them lower.

c. Didnt like the phone and are content to just break even.

I purchased mine from eBay for $800au with FedEx shipping, I know I paid more than others but from Australia it's not easy get so it really didn't bother me paying extra. I just checked my tracking and it has landed in Australia so I should get it tomorrow..
