Help Phone doesn't show up on computer

Cricket's( or huawei's) software comes on the internal memory in phone. There's a usb folder in there to install usb drivers, after they're in, open pc options, a rectangular window will pop up with file transfer in the middle, click that, then go to my computer, and you will see removable drive( sometimes I see two drives, but not all the time), the drive may not say huawei, but not a big deal, as long as it opens to your sd card contents. I SCREWED my instant plug in options, the second week I had the phone, by foolishly reformatting the sd, the only way i can get it back is to revert to stock. I'm too far along to want to do that, I like my setup. If anybody has any ideas, without rinsing, and repeating my phone, please post!

I have the same problem, the only way I can workaround it, is to unmount the sd, eject the sd( I don't take it all the way out, just enough to separate the contacts), plug the cell back into the computer ( it will show up as a removable drive), click on it. Open PC options, remount sd, then click file transfer. On computer, go up to my computer, and you should see cell as a removable drive.

This did not work. Even without the sd card in the phone still shows up as a CD ROM drive. How frustrating.

Where is this USB folder? I have never seen it. I think I need to re-install these drivers.

I'm new to this forum, so go easy on me please!

The Ascend cellphone seems to have an internal memory that has been divided. One part of the memory is the Internal phone storage (system, data, etc) and the other part is an Internal SD card (pc options, android drivers, manual).
So, it looks like the hard reset deleted the Internal SD card content and so it will show in your computer as an empty CD drive, also since the PC options are not there, there's no way for you to select the "File Transfer" option.

One way that might get you access to the SD card files might be by touching "USB connect (select to copy files to/from your computer)" from the notification bar tho.

Sounds like u know something, I wouldn't have figured that they might have partitioned the internal memory, if he lost that one area, he won't have the software. The only way he can get it back is to revert the phone to stock, or replace it( preferred).

well that's what i've seen with my ascend phone.
true... those might be the only 2 solutions (besides the option to mount the SD card in the notification bar)
So, just in case anyone wants to know how to restore to stock setup follow those instructions (I've done it):

That sounds like a problem with the SD card and the phone, but if the sd card works with the phone as it should (accessing music, pix, etc) then it might be windows having the problem.
Have you tried plugging the USB cord into another USB port in the computer?
Or maybe you changed the USB Mass Storage settings to "disable"? (Settings > General Info & Options > USB Mass Storage)

I tried this. On my phone it will show that there is no contents on the SD card.

If the internal memory is partitioned (split into two seprate sections), and you lost the one with the connecting software, maybe flashing it back to stock may fix it, found out with links2sd, that it couldn't find a second partition on my sd, the only problem I have, is if it means on the internal sd, or my sd card.

So, let me get this straight!
you're phone sees content in your SD card? (music, pix, videos, etc)
but your computer doesn't shows any content in the SD card (not the CD drive)?

and just to clarify, there's are 2 "SD Cards" the Internla SD Card = CD with drivers, manual and there is the SD card = removable card (music, videos, etc)

Exact same thing happens to me it says " Insert A Disk " This is why I never upgraded to Icuras 1.1 but I really want to so I can have mms

Have you ever tried using another SD card? or at least removing the card and placing it back in? maybe taking the SD card from the phone and put it directly into the computer? how about (if you have one) place the card in another phone and connect it to the computer?

I had to flash back to stock ROM before and I got the Internal SC card content back in place.

This is the second time that I install Android 2.2.1 on my Ascend, and it removes the content of the Internal SD card (drivers, manual) so now i have an empty CD drive on my PC but if I want to get access to the SD card I go through the notification bar option.

that would be because the available froyo update has three major bugs, no camera, mms, or usb mounting.

Do me a favor and just follow this instructions.

Remove the SD card from your phone and connect your phone to the computer BUT in a different USB port! Do you get the same CD drive???

If so.. place the SD card back in the phone (NO, dont unplug it or turn it off), do you get a notification on your phone saying it's getting the SD ready?

If you do, look into the notifications bar and click the option to mount the SD for file transfer. Does the CD drive goes away and a Removable drive becomes available?

The CD Drive does go away but no removable drive ever pops up.

while having your cell connected to the computer, go to the "device manager" (right click "my computer", click "manage", click "device manager")
and see if there is a "usb mass storage" entry with an exclamation mark (!)on it, if there's one, right click on it and "uninstall" it.

unplug your phone and reboot the computer.
once the computer is up and ready, plug-in your phone, go to the notification bar and select the usb connection. your computer should find a new usb mass storage device now.
