Hey,

Just got a new HTC Hero!!! Love it..

However my sms inbox is filling up and I never delete my texts, however, the sms app is beginning to run slow... and when I receive texts it marks them as read even though I have not read them...

Any one know how to fix this, or do I just need to delete texts...

If you dont want to part with the texts you can always use an app to back them up somewhere before you delete them. I use a free one called 'SMS backup' that backs them up to my gmail account. That means I can still access any old texts through the gmail app, and they're laid out the same as on the phone.

I think Deleting your texts is best idea... I text alot so ive gotten myself in the habit of doing it every day or two. I havent heard of any other fixes

Ummm.....

how many txts do you have, i must barely txt as i've never cleared it yet.

Well I have had the phone 3 days and already have about 1500 txts on the phone XD, I txt a lot haha

There is an idea, how do you view them though, does it back them up to like an excel sheet or something?

whats your build version number ?

I found when i was on original rom version anything over 200 in a thread was slow i had 700 in one thread and it took about 15 seconds to let me in text messages.

I upgraded it and restored my messages and it seemed to be faster but that could be to do with fact i did a restore of old messages which i think its reading from back up file on sd card

OK same as me, the program i used was called sms backup and restore catchy title but it does what it says however i do thing that it is storing all the backup messages which are displayed in the backup file, as there is a little file icon on each message, not entirely happy with that but it does make a huge improvement to speed.
