I saw this game mentioned in the Tap Tap thread but I thought it deserved it's own thread. There's certainly some room for improvement but it's a great game! I would recommend trying it to anyone that enjoys rhythm/guitar hero type games. I think it's single greatest feature is that it's compatible with all Frets on Fire tracks. Tip: register at Frets On Fire Fan Forum • Index page and browse to the Tune Posting subforum to find TONS of songs to download for use with the game. Including all the Guitar Hero and Rock Band songs.

Please, post your experiences with the game. I've only tried part of one song so far. I'm at work, so it would look bad if I sat here and played Taps of Fire on my phone all afternoon :). I played a song on Easy and during the slow/moderate parts it worked well, but when it got faster with a lot of notes coming I seemed to be missing every note. I couldn't tell if I was just sucking or if the game was not registering my presses correctly. I'll have to play more extensively to be sure.

Now if we could get some multi-touch in there we'd be in business.

i hope he updates it soon. currently there is no multitouch support and so we can only hit the single notes

I agree daikonv. I think it's in the works and a new version might be out this weekend even, from reading comments by the developer on the google code page.

Also, you can hit two notes at once now, by tapping in between the two notes that you want to hit. Multi-touch would be much better though.

I've DLed a few tracks but cant seem to make them load. On the code site it says to put in the songs folder which I had to create. Still no luck. any suggestions?

Apparently it doesnt support mp3s..

Quote from random internet site:

You should end up with a folder with at least a song.ini, notes.mid, and song.ogg file in it. Copy this whole directory to your songs directory .

Right. You have to load songs specifically made for the game for them to work. You can't just load your mp3 collection and expect it to work. However, if you look in my original post I gave a link to a forum that has TONS of songs made for the game that you can download for free.

shawheim: yes, I've found it to be pretty hard as well. I'm pretty damn good at guitar hero, but I struggle on medium and up songs on Taps of Fire. I think once he gets multi-touch working it will help a little.

That is what I was talking about. I went to that forum and Dled some tracks there and still will not load them.

I uploaded a song i made onto there. Way to hard with no multi touch. And the timing of hiting the notes is kinda off, you have to hit the note early for it to work which makes it much harder. Im an avid Frets on Fire player/ Creator so i know how it all works, but once he gets the timing and multi-touch added should be an awesome game.

Yeah, I've noticed that hitting the notes early works better. Have you tried messing with the notes delay setting?

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I thought I would post this here for future readers: IDKJava (my friend and I) have taken over the development of this game, as the original owner didn't have enough time. We have so far implemented multi-touch and are working on getting a release APK up. Check out our google code page for more details: firetaps - Project Hosting on Google Code.
