Can we please stop calling the Evo 4G the "O.G. Evo" in lieu of the impending release of the Evo 3D?

I come to you in an effort to persuade: I'm calling out a formal plea to the sensibilities of all of you smart people out there to please stop referring to the Evo 4G as the "OG Evo". I find it to be incredibly annoying, and one hundred percent unnecessary. It is a useless moniker since the phone is already well established and called the Evo 4G. It is easily distinguishable from the currently named Evo 3D, and does not need any other qualifiers attached to it's name. Plus, in the same amount of keystrokes used to type "OG", you could easily just type "4G".

I completely understand the meaning and the reasoning for this useless moniker, and it is flawed. It is my belief that it makes the group as a whole sound silly and portrays a false image of lack of intelligence.

This has been a friendly public service announcement, thank you, keep it classy.

i agree with the OG part. i started seeing it in forums and i was like what?? is there a limited edition evo 4g thats coming out? lol O.G. Original Gangster? like Ice T? lol

I mean no offense to anyone, so please, if I come off offensive or rude, tell me. I'm not here to troll and anger people. I'm here to learn like much of the rest of the community. Anyway, to my point.

People have been referring to the original Droid as the "OG Droid" for quite some time. I can see how that would be beneficial, as there are many droids. But now, as the EVO line is expanding, people are becoming incresingly lazy to type of EVO 4G. We now have the EVO 4G, EVO Shift 4G, EVO 3D, and, though you may not count it, the EVo View 4G. Thus, as people attempt to type out a quick response in these forums, the need for speed overcomes formality and "OG EVO" was born.

In any case, I refer to these as:
EVO 4G: the EVO
EVO Shift 4G: the Shift
EVO 3D: the 3D
EVO View 4G: the View

I hope people will be able to use this as a model, and I bid you all a good day.

As was mentioned before the OG reference was first used on the Droid when its derivatives and decedents started coming out. It's really not a big deal.

i dont see any issue in it.. really? does it really hurt your feelings?? it really does make me laugh how these possessions of ours.. make us so personally attached to them. and we will replace them in a heart beat when the next greatest comes out.

OG is OK... the original .. the first.. the one that got it started.. I like it!!

And OG sounds like a caveman's name, and not a cool one like Alley Oop, and not srsly biznez.

So - I propose for those times when we must identify the original, we maintain the air of srsly biznez commensurate with a nuclear weapons release and call it --

1Evo

You can even rap to it. You can even post to it - Set condition 1Evo. Coolness has been authorized.

I learned what OG meant (old generation) a few months ago when I was reading an iPhone forum. Made perfect sense to me, and I don't see what the big deal is.

I'm sure some people had issues with acronyms like ROFLMAO back when that was new. Get over it.

While I understand what OG is now, I still call my Evo an Evo. Though in some threads I think I was saying Evo 1 and Evo 2. As long as people understand.....
