Help Weather App not updating current Location

Mine also stopped working after a while. The situation was the same when I updated to Froyo. But I finally got it to work. Try this:

Go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications.
Then go to 'All' and scroll down to 'HTC Weather sync provider'.
Select 'Clear Data'.
Then Select 'Force Stop'.

Then go to your home screen and restart the weather app by tapping under the time and then update the weather. The weather should now be available on the homescreen.

I wished I saw this earlier might have saved me an hour. However another trick worked for me.
1. I changed the app to home location. And of course it said home location was set until I got to the main screen where it still had an old location where I traveled to a few days earlier.
2. I took out the battery turned power back on. Still same problem.
3. Then I pressed down and held my weather clock widget on my main page and dragged it to the garbage.
4. Went to the main screen, found and empty spot and held down for the widgets to appear.
5. Scrolled to the clock widget, chose the weather clock combo again.
6. Chose my home location.
7. Looked at the main screen and WHOALA! It was working again.
8. Note that in my situation I did not have to uninstall the app.

Just showing you what worked for me. Now you have two alternatives!

Over the past few days (since I downloaded the software update I think) my location on the weather app is not updating. Anyone else experienced that/any ideas. On Voda with Auto sync on.

I have found this occurs from time to time and that if I remove the clock widget and reinstall it on the home page, set it to current location it pulls the cellular info and updates correctly. Small inconvenience for a very accurate widget.

I have also been having the Weather widget issue. I reside in Shenzhen, China but travel a lot. Same problem occured in Shenzhen China, New Delhi India and now in San Jose Calif US. I tried your suggestion of removing the widget and replacing and it still is not updating. I have also tried Al applications and stopping, restarting and it does not work either. I started having this problem about 2 months ago when I updated. This is a big nussance because you own this phone for its features and useability. Anybody else have any tech update from HTC that is tried & true?

This just happened to me today and try as I might I can't get it to show anything apart from "current location".
I've cleared data on the weather, stopped both weather and clock, removed clock and put back on homescreen, stopped and restarted Location.
Nothing seems to work.

Strangely it's just HTC widgets/ weather having the problem.
Fancy widgets works perfectly (I just prefer the HTC animations.)

Another thought - I noticed that last night the clock widget showed a sun at about 8.30pm last night.
In the UK there's no way there's sun at 8.30pm in March ;)
It did eventually switch to a moon but it had been dark for quite a while here.
Don't know if that was related (didn't notice the location last night, tonight is the first time I've noticed the problem.)

phone: HTC desired HD

problem: weather widget not updating the weather of current location

source of problem:
1. reset phone to factory default
2. reload/ reinstall clock weather widget

solution:
1. menu -> settings -> location -> my location -> check "use wireless network" or "use GPS satellites" box

2. drag widget to edit -> select current location

This has fixed the problem for me, hope it helps anyone with the same issue. :D

got a call from HTC support, weather bug is a known issue, will be fixed in 2.3, ETA June.

Can't say I'm not disappointed with the features in the phone vs the marketed information, especially htcsense.com.:(

It's strange it used to work perfectly but it may have been when I flashed LeeDroid ROM that it stopped working (can't be sure it was the ROM that did it though.)

One "fix" I found was to just use a different clock like Fancy Widgets as it seems to only occur with the HTC Sense clock.
With Fancy widgets the clock looks almost identical but it doesn't have a flip animation on the clock tabs and the unlock weather effects are smaller and less smooth/ pretty.

If the bug is fixed in 2.3 then great!

iam also facing the same problem with my htc desire hd can any one fix this problem:thinking:

I had the same issue with Desire HD and solution for me was to change 'APN' access point from WAP to Internet.

Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile networks ->Access Point names.

Since I changed access point to Internet both location and weather update works fine.
