Help mailing in my droid. how to complete reset

My droid has a bad screen that actually is bowing outward and getting worse everyday.
I took it into verizon and the are going to replace it free of charge.
I was running 2.1 and flashed back to 2.0.1 before I went to the store.
I'm going to have to send it in and it is still rooted and I'm running the alternate boot image.
So my question is what else should I do to send it in to avoid losing my waranty and how would I go about doing it?

Look on alldroid...they had instructions for unrooting, etc., in the Droid forum there.

First of all, I would create a nandroid recovery image, and save it to my PC.

Then, I would copy the whole sdcard to my PC.

Then, I would follow this thread to a 'T'.

Then get to the homescreen (without signing in if I could), go to: Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset

Lastly, format the sdcard.

From his other post (AllDroid.org - View topic - Need SU update.zip for 2.1) it sounds like he had a msstep in his process and ended up w/2.1 installed and no SU. A bit of a rock and a hard place...hopefully someone smarter than I can help him.

Honestly, it doesn't matter. I've hacked phones from Verizon for a long time, and sent them in as is. No problems ever. You don't need to waste your time wiping is clean to "hide" your tracks. It's your phone. Verizon doesn't own Android.

I hear ya. But my first and second step sure makes things simple when he gets the new one.

Oh for sure. Backing up the phone is #1 priority (should be a given) but to send a device back, there is no need to wipe a phone.

i went ahead and followed the thred to unroot/remove su and busybox just incase and im gonna delete all the updates and nandroid off the sd card (i backed it up first)
