DROID user wants to try out a NEXUS ONE..where can I?

@phydeaux

i doubt it. I went in to 2 stores yesterday while out shopping (1st store to pay my bill, second to pick up a silicone sleeve for the wife) and at both stores, the reps practically blew their load all over my n1 when they took notice of it. I still seems from what I understood, that this will be a direct google online purchase.

Doubt that T-Mo will set up any kiosks for the N1. That's the whole point of the N1 and Google's business model. NO MORE BRICK AND MORTAR PURCHASE SITES! If you want to test one, you're going to have either a) order one, or b) wait until one of your friends picks it up. IMO, this is an oversight failure on the part of Google. People buy their phones by holding it, picking it up, pressing buttons and seeing things like how great the screen is. No FLASH website is going to replace that experience. Even stuff you buy on-line, you've likely been to a Best Buy or retail store to see it before picking it up cheaper on-line. That being said, this is NOT a T-Mo phone, as evidence by T-Mo not handling any customer service issues with the phone. Someone had a glitch on their N1, called T-Mo, and they replied, "We are not offering customer service for the Nexus One as it is not a T-Mobile device."

yeah youtube was what i thought would be the only option..hopefully they do set up a demo eventually...im really tossed up between the droid and nexus....i love the droid, but don't really need the keyboard and i love the look of the nexus one..what do you guys think

Get the DROID. The only thing that should separate you from buying either one of these phones is whether you want a keyboard or not. If you can live without a physical keyboard, get the N1.

Correction, the other thing that'll factor in is what kind of service you want for your phone. Is VZW a better carrier in your area? Do you have an existing at&t SIM card? Is T-Mo acceptable in your area?

If you can wait, I would hold off from buying either of these phones. With carriers moving to 4G later in the summer of 2010, none of these phones is going to work on 4G or LTE. Honestly, to me, it's not worth playing around with an N1 for 6-8 months, only for it to be left behind in the broadband connectivity department.

T-Mobile isn't getting the phone at all. I actually swung by one today to see if I could get an extra usb chord and they guy laughed at me. He said, "Us have the Nexus One? Not even...only way you can get any of that stuff is online because we won't have it."

so.....best luck is find a friend. Good luck man!

Do you really believe the 4G networks will be big enough for any real consumer to care? Last I checked Verizon won't be finished rolling out 4G until 2013... Sure they may be starting this year, but it'll be smaller than T-Mobile's HSPA network and 90% of consumers won't care because they can't get the service. 4G is not a magical switch they turn on and say let there be speed, Verizon is switch technologies completely to LTE, so they will be juggling 2 different networks at the same time. So personally I'd say stop waiting for LTE and 4G and wait another year and a half and enjoy the nice phones we have now, because you won't be taking advantage of the faster networks for atleast another year and a half.

@chaos Honestly, I don't work at VZW so I don't know how much of the infrastructure is already in place. When they say they will roll out in Summer 2010, I don't believe they're just going to announce, "We'll have LTE and here's our first tower." I believe that VZW has been working ALREADY to put the towers and the infrastructure in place, so that when it is ready to roll, they'll have decent coverage, particularly of metropolitan areas. I don't know if it's Sprint or T-Mo who's already rolled out 4G for one metropolitan area to test. But I got to believe that VZW, with their clout has put something in place for roll out. I just can't believe it's not going to have decent coverage when they roll out.

But that's just my thoughts on it...

i would have to believe GOOG would the set up a booth or Tmobile would set one up in the store to continue the hype. you can't just rely online sales as business format for retail. specially for a young company.

...not just yet.

But they are. I mean its happening now and im sure its going to be this way from here on out. Im going to assume the initial numbers on sales should be quite staggering so theres a ton of cash coming googles way by doing this. So in saying that why stop? Keep in mind this hasnt even hit Verizon yet so theres a whole bunch of new customers just waiting to jump on.
