Memory card for RAM?

You can, if you root the handset. Means you can't unmount your card while the handset is powered on though.... bad things happen.

Hmm does that include mounting to pc via usb? I rarely mount to my pc, as I keep my favorite songs on my phone. Does the swap file provide more memory for applications or is there a way to install to sdcard? I'm a lil nervous of rooting my Droid, I don't want to lose gps,or goggles or have any big issues with applications. I'm used to Linux so I'm no beginner to su or root. I just want benefits to be much bigger then the negatives. Any advice on links for rooting Motorola Droid and 2.1. Thanks

Yup.

Not for storage, it just increases the memory available for running apps.

or is there a way to install to sdcard?
There's the Apps2SD application, but I don't know whether it will run on the Droid or if there's a third-party (custom) ROM which includes it.

Motorola Droid - Android Forums would be the place to ask....
