ok guys i'm lost, my wife evo rooted w/ s-off, its been rebooting alot today. she's on baked snacks 1.8. I just moved her files to the sdcard and uninstalled the hack adobe player for hulu and put the original on. I then rebooted the phone and now it shows the HTC EVO white screen, it then vibrates quickly 5 times, go to a black screen and w/ a green flash. I then went into recovery and clear the data, reboot but still 5 vibrate and nothing. I tried going into recovery again to do a nandroid, but it doesn't go into there either.

So... are you able to get into recovery? You say that you were able to get into recovery to wipe data but not to do a nand.

sorry I didn't explain myself to well it was pretty late when I wrote this. I mean to say when I click recovery, it flash Evo 4g, then typically it turns black for about 2 sec or so and then take you into the other screen to do a nandroid etc. Once it turns black it just stays black, give 5 quick vibrate, then just flash a green light until I take the battery out

steps.

Power-Vol down
Clear storage-yes
reboots
white screen then black screen with the 5 short vibrate

Power-Vol down
recovery
white screen then black screen with the 5 short vibrate

I know this wouldn't have done anything but even took the sd card out and tried with the same results.

also tried keeping the battery out for some time, also tried fully charging and trying again. all same results.

Now my question is would the sprint ins pay for it. If they down the power -vol down they will see it's S-off and I know they will try to blame rooting the phone. But we all know the rebooting anytime deal has been happening since day 1, it seem that froyo made more frequent to happen.

Whoa... hold on there, no need to take it to Sprint just yet. Besides, chances are they won't cover it without the $100 deductible. Since you are able to get into bootloader and you have S-OFF, give this method a try: Stock 3.29.651.5 PC36IMG.ZIP Format - xda-developers. It involves placing a PC36IMG file on your zip and flashing it through bootloader. I am pretty sure it will work for you.

I found this site as well and I took my sd card, put the file on the root as I did many times, put my card in her phone and it started to flash. I got

Boot fail-PU
Partition update fail.
Update fail

I put the card back in my phone and my phone was just staying at the EVO 4g screen. I had to do a nandroid restore. So I wouldn't be trying that again. I got a 1gb sd card I had laying around and tried this procedure again, placed it on the root. but now I get nothing,

I have heard of this issue before, most people who get this are able to flash it successfully after their second attempt.

I'm having this problem and I can't get it to boot into recovery mode with vol. down + power. It always just does 5 short vibrations and then continuously flashes the left side LED green.

It's only a few days old... should I take it to a Sprint store? I bought it online.

We need some more info as far as whats going on in order to help...

1. I am guessing you are rooted correct?
2. What did you do prior to this happening? (flashing rom or kernal)
3. And if you did flash something did you wipe data, cache and dalvik?

I have the same problem on my new white HW Rev 004 EVO. I've successfully rooted. then decided to flash custom rom, so i wiped everything and selected flash from SDCARd. at this point it said can't mount SDCARD. and it no longer boots. just vibrates 5 times. If i put a file named PC36IMG.zim in the root of my sdcard, it loads it, then says checking, then back to hboot screen. HELP!!!

i can get to hboot but can't do recovery i don't have the right recovery for it plus it is not rooted so i am lost here please help guys i am going in recovery mode and it is black screen with htc phone on it and red triangle .

You have 2 choices right now that I see.

1) follow the rooting for dummies guide under "after rooting" and download and flash the PC36IMG file for your hboot and finish unrooting. It seems that something happened and you are now unrooted but not back to stock yet.

2) or try and run unrevoked and see if you can get s-off and a recovery so you can flash a rom and get back to a functional phone.

the problem is phone doesn't turn on and i can not set debugging on :(

You will need to finish unrooting then. Follow the guide to get it unrooted. You will need to download the PC36IMG file for your hboot, rename it exactly PC36IMG and put it on the root of your sdcard. There is a usb toggle in hboot I believe to allow you access to your sdcard on your computer without having to pull the card out and use a card reader. After it is on the card, power off then reboot to hboot and it should scan for the file. tell it to install it. when done, you should be back to a stock phone and can reroot from there.

I was in the process of flashing Myns Warm 2.2 this morning and the same thing happened. Im rooted with unrevoked using clock work 2.5 or something close to that. I wiped everything flashed Myns no problem, flashed the radio update, everything seem to go ok. Went to reboot, white screen with HTC comes on and then it vibrates 5 times with green led blinking. I can get to hboot, but when I select recovery, white screen with HTC then black screen with 5 vibrates. Any help would be appreciated.

UPDATE:
I can now get into clockwork mod some how by booting into recovery with the phone hooked up to a computer. I don't understand why, but now theres another problem. I cant restore or flash another rom because the phone cant mount the sd card something about a dev/block/mmcblk0. What does that mean. Is there a fix for this. Also my s is now on I noticed in reboot menu. Also I believe when I flashed the radio update zip that came along with Myns is where I had a problem.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!

You can boot to hboot correct? You might have to completely unroot to get it fixed as you now have s-on. I would download the PC36IMG file for your hboot under unrooting in the Rooting for Dummies guide. Use a card reader to get it on the root of your sdcard name exactly PC36IMG. Put the card back in your phone and boot to hboot and see if it will scan for it. Hopefully it will find it and return your phone to stock so you can unroot.

What baseband does your hboot say you have?
