Are they pictures from the camera or pictures you've downloaded from somewhere? What resolution are the photos?

Are you saying that the contact picture for Jane Doe becomes blurry over time?

Slow down, calm down and use punctuation and sentences. It makes it easier to read and decipher.

Outlook/Exchange saves your contact pictures at like 80x80 or something very small as far as the picture size goes. You'll need to export all your contacts and import them into your gmail. Once you've done so and updated alll your pictures in gmail to be the non blurry ones, turn off your Outlook/Exchange sync. You made need to reload to factory after this in order to get the right contacts sync'd from google for the proper pictures.

well yea but the pictures were clear but then they went blurry i mean i dunno if its double stampig the picture because its also been put on my gamil pics for the contacts as well as on my phone maybe but its says im not sycing unless i call tech and they see one running but i dont i dont think. but if so what do u mean update them .. like delete them restore them or just restore the pictures?

Outlook resizes your pictures to very small. So when they get pulled up on your phone they look like shizzat.

You will need to stop syncing from outlook if you want normal pictures. You have to export your contacts from outlook into a file. Upload the file to your gmail account in the contacts management section. Add the pictures to the contacts on the gmail side and then hard reset your phone and only sync contacts with gmail.

I cannot explain this any further. If you do not have the knowledge to do any of these things try putting "Export contacts from outlook" into a google search.

OKAY now i think your theory was right partly because me and the guy at sprint have been trying to figure this out for a while i mean i went through 2 so now we figure your right about the sync from outlook or exchange but i also sync my other email givensmike87@(AOL.COM) sooo i think that is what is making pull outlook n sync it maybe cause it says im not im disconnected but i think it might be doing it when i get another email etc. from my aol mail ya know cause i had to sync it through pop microsoft thing or whatever one i picked is that right u think??

No i havent pluged it into my computer yet so i dont beleive so but, i was just on the phone with sprint tech support and they said my thoery wasent likely because they think it is google itself a problum with it making my pictures 80 by 80 everytime i save one and it messing it up they found one other person with my problum on android.madaco.com under blurry contacts so they said its such a new problum and not enough people they dont know what to do ugh this is so stupid lol why me??

I give up dude..
We know what the problem is and how to fix it.
It's outlook, not gmail.
You are syncing contacts with outlook/exchange. It resizes your images read my above posts for how to fix it. Its not a new problem... unless i'm missing something terribad here but I'm almost %100 certain i'm not.

I do not use exchange/outlook, nor facebook. The only two photos I have added to contacts in the phone are photos I took with the phone. Both of those photos look like blurry crap when caller ID shows the incoming call. Contact photos either from gmail users who have a photo, or other photos I have taken with another camera look great.

Psst. You *are* missing something 100%... It's not outlook. I do not use outlook and have the same problem. You will also find a number of reports regarding this bug at the android bug tracker.

I know of 2 others personally with the exact same problem (stressing again, both only use Google (contacts/gmail etc) for syncing NOT Outlook/Exchange)

Well, exactly where did these pictures ORIGINATE from?

I had pics assigned to contacts from my previous phone which moved over to the hero when I originally synced from Outlook, they were blurry too. Yes, Outlook uses lower spec's/resolution for its contact pics.

If you used a picture file on your phone and then used it to assign to a contact I think the issue will go away. I had blurry ones too, so I went and found the original pictures, copied it to my phone, used it to assign to contact, deleted the pic afterwards and whoola, no more blurry picture.

This obviously won't work if you don't have the original. If they are FB friends, just go there and download a pic from their page and then proceed to do it this way.

Hope this helps... it's a long way around, but it works.

It will not make a difference where the picture originates from. Once Google syncs it more than once it gets blurry. Don't believe me? Try it yourself.

Add a contact, add a contact picture (*any picture*) for that contact, call that contact.

Looks great doesn't it? Now wait 15 or so minutes and call that contact again... see what happens?
