Any good torrent clients for Android?

Hey guys, I'm not looking for a program that communicates with my computer or seedbox, I have Torrent-Fu already for that. I'm wondering if there are any decent torrent clients for Android so I can just download a torrent right over my 3G connection. Searching torrent in the Market only gets one client that costs $5 and apparently is missing key features. Are there maybe some good .apk packaged torrent clients out there not in the Market? I'd assume that Vuze (as mediocre as it is), being written in Java, could be ported fairly easily as well.

I'm currently using Transdroid to talk to my Windows 7 uTorrent client and it works great. I am able to see the progress of my torrents, pause, resume, delete torrents. I am even able to search trackers like The Pirate Bay and others and add those torrents to the uTorrent client remotely.

I haven't been able to get it to search Demonoid but I haven't really tried it that much yet either and I'm sure there is a work around.

I'm not sure if Transdroid support Torrent-Fu but its worth a shot. If it doesn't, you might have to switch your client over to uTorrent or Vuze (ugh)

I use the $5 dollar app you mentioned, its called Abtc. It works fairly well and yes it does lack features but it gets the job done about half the time. Is it worth $5 bucks though, probably not, but its sweet to be able to download the music your and your friends wanna hear.
And to the 2nd poster i believe that Demonoid was down for a while because someone cracked their written code. It is up and running again right now with a new code but it's rather unstable and i wouldn't suggest downloading anything unless you are a member or have a very good virus protection program.

What I do is use torrent fu to remotely manage and add torrents to my windows 7 box running utorrent then I use andftp to transfer files from that computer when they finish over 3g

Uh not to be a dick or anything but Demonoid is a fairly safe tracker since its pirvate and you have to be invited to be able to upload or download torrents. It's other sites like The Pirate Bay which are open that I'd be worried about getting a virus from. And the reason that Transdroid doesn't let you search Demonoid is because it doesn't allow you the option to login with a username and password when searching torrents.

Thanks for actually READING my post. I specifically asked to not hear about Transdroid/Torrent-Fu cause I have that already.

But yeah, that's what I thought of it, I'd buy it for $2 maybe. I'm thinking maybe some obscure app is available that needs a manual install from a .apk. if not, it should be fairly easy to make one available with Java. Vuze should consider porting over, though I don't know how their lagfest of a torrent client would work on a mobile platform.

And Demonoid is NOT a safe private tracker because it's not private at all. Invites are constantly available, there's no risk of being banned for ratio, and as you can see, it's definitely hackable.

Actually, you never mention that you were using Transdroid in your original post.

Actually, you never mention that you were using Transdroid in your original post.

I mentioned that I use Torrent-Fu, and even specified that I don't want a program that controls a computer's torrent client in case people don't know what Torrent-Fu is.

Demonoid went down due to technical issues, not because it was hacked.

Either way, it's not the most secure, robust tracker, and people shouldn't treat it as a private tracker cause it's not.

I guess there is no other torrent client besides abtc, then? That's a shame. I know a little Java, and I'm tempted to learn a little more and develop my own.

Yes. An example of what I'm looking for is abtc. But with its feature set, $5 is too much.

I am NOT looking for Transdroid or Torrent-Fu. As useful as they are, I don't leave my computer on 24-7 and sometimes I want access to a PDF guide or whatnot instantly, not when I get home. Thanks in advance if someone uncovers something new that's compatible with Android 2.0 though.

I can't download a torrent over 500 MB on aBTC. It errors out on me and stops. I'm not sure if it's the nature of aBTC but I have yet to download anything larger than 500 MB, and sure this thread is a year old, but better to bump an old thread than to create a new thread and be accused of not using the search feature.

Are you sure it's a hard limit of 500MB and greater? Can you download >500MB files through the web browser? If not, your SD card might be filling up or something. Or maybe it's because aBTC needs to allocate extra space to do its magic on the SD card...

Seems like a soft 500 MB limit. Not sure if it's aBTC's limitations or maybe that dreaded data cap that I've heard so much about from the evil networks. At any rate, I have trouble downloading anything even close to 1GB in size.

There's no data cap on Verizon. There IS throttling if you're within the top 5% of heaviest data users though.

Like I said, check and see if you can download a large file through the web browser (if you don't know what to download, the Ubuntu ISO is plenty big, at 700MB. There's a Debian ISO that's over 4GB as well because it's meant to fit on a DVD).

Well like I said, if you can't download ANYTHING over 500MB, that's through the web browser or through aBTC, then there's something up probably with your SD card.
