Leave Samsung Moment?

I currently own the Samsung Moment and at first I loved it. But now, the size is really getting to me. I have had it for 28 days. Should I take it back for the HTC Hero although the Moment has a faster processor? Also if i root the Hero, will it be faster?

I switched from the Moment to the Hero just a few days ago. I had the Moment for close to 45 days and became very familliar with it. I could not be happier with the switch, and believe you will be as well.

Even though the processor is supposedly faster on the Moment, my Hero is SO MUCH more responsive than my Moment was. I believe this may be in large part to the Fresh ROM 1.1 I installed, even though out of the box the Hero was very snappy to begin with.

There are so many "quirks" and bugs with the Moment, including the GPS issues (total bummer), the battery meter, proximity sensor, sluggish notifications, incompatible apps (Pandora, anyone?) etc.

Everything works the way it's supposed to on the Hero. Other pluses include the Google Voice Search (an Android standard, missing from the Moment), the LED notification, multi-touch, the much better trackball, and the sleek, sexy, pocketability. I don't miss the hard keyboard at all - the Hero's on-screen is almost on par with the iPhone.

Don't be fooled by Moment fans and other vanilla-Android users. Sense-UI makes Android SO MUCH BETTER. If you've only used one or the other, there's no way to really appreciate the improvements. I still can't beleive how much easier to use it is.

Having been through so many phones in the past 2 years (Voyager, Dare, iPhone, Moment, now Hero) - I can honestly say I can see myself with this phone for a long time. Will all the exciting new Android stuff out (Droid, Nexus, etc) it may be easy to be tempted to wait for something bigger and better - but this phone is absolutely wonderful.

I switched from the Moment to the Hero within 4 days of having the Moment. LOL I havent looked back. The Hero is so much better. I couldnt even tell the difference is response time with the supposed faster processor in the Moment.

The hero feels faster than the moment with fresh 1.1 for sure. My slight lag issue has been taken care of.

I had the moment for a short period and I would not recommend it because as you can see there is not a lot of support for it. This site has a forum for it but most sites don't. I want a phone that will live as long as the G1 has. The moment doesn't seem like it's going to last that long. The hero will.

I don't think samsung will support that phone just like they did with the instinct. A few updates and then nothing.

I couldn't agree more. I switched to the hero after 28 days with the moment. The moment may look better on paper but the hero...in my opinion...is so much better. I couldnt be happier.

I have both, the wife took the moment and likes it, I think it is JUNK when put side by side to Hero. the moment has a blue'ish color to the screen (heard this about most moments) it may have a faster processor, but I do not see any diff when I make sure all apps are shut down on both with a task mger. there are apps that will run great on my hero but not on the moment.

stick with the HERO. I just hope the 2.1 update comes soon for us on sprint!

My wife switched from the Moment to the Hero as well. She was concerned about the on screen keyboard, but quickly found it easier than the quirky placed keys on the Moment.

The main reasons the phone was returned was the horrible battery life.

I'm also looking to change but I'll decide after I get to play with the Hero. I've had the moment for a couple of days now and the GPS is killing me. It's not working at all. I swore to never go back to a software keyboard but it depends on the device.

Also, as stated above, I am not expecting Samsung to offer much in the way of support. This is typical of Samsung across their entire product lines. I have the very first 46" 1080p LCD they made, which came out after HDMI 1.3 was released. I later found out the TV was not v1.3 and Samsung happily informed me that "We have no intentions of making any firmware upgrades available for your product"! This is Samsung all the way, why improve the customers existing product when we can sell them a new one. That is the only reason I have not bought one of their new slim LED TV's yet, I will wait till another manufacturer has one out.

I did the Hero for 29 days, listened to fanboys on the moment forums, and did 29 days on the moment. RAN back to my second Hero. Thank goodness for Best Buy.

Moment was a cool phone. Really boring compared to the Hero. HTC really made a slick version of android.

The funky, phsyical keyboard was one of the biggest deal breakers for me on the moment. I thought, yeah, having a physical keyboard would be great. But the way they designed it just sucks -- for me, at least. I type much faster with the HERO's on screen keyboard. It's actually pretty good. I just couldn't get the hang of the moment's phsyical keyboard. I liked the moment's on screen keyboard better than its phsyical keyboard. It just didn't seemed designed well for me, and I couldn't get the hang of it. The hero's onscreen -- I got used to that in an hour.

Also, the lack of support that Samsung is known for in their phones, and the lack of third party products is what ultimately made me go to the hero. I'm glad I did. The hero is probably the best phone I've owned, and I like it better than WM, BBOS, WebOS, and PalmOS and even the Iphone OS, although Iphone is pretty cool, but navigation wise, it can be a pain. I think the hero, with its sense UI, is the best phone/internet device to use and navigate right now for me. Not for everybody, I suppose, but I defintely like the touch HTC put on this android device. It seems very thoughtful and well designed from a usability standpoint.

After much deliberation and discussions in these forums, my wife and I made the switch from the Moment to the Hero this weekend. Only been a couple days but I can honestly tell you we are VERY happy with the switch.

The physical keyboard was the reason we went to the moment first, since I was used to typing on a blackberry. Don't let this be the only reason you stray from the Hero....typing on the Hero is very good and my thumbs don't seem to hurt as much based on the fact it is more comfortable to type on.

I liked the MOMENT.....I LOVE the HERO.

Just changed my ringer to the song "Hero" by Foo Fighters. My setup is officially complete.

Mhz is everything folks. The CPU in the Moment is an older generation unit. The Hero processor may have fewer Mhz but it gets more work done with each clock cycle. It is pretty much a wash.

I switched back to a Hero after going to the Moment for 28 days and the only thing I do not like about the Hero is that it lags when you touch the screen. Its not much but its noticeable. Any way to remedy this? Its not a problem scrolling but it becomes a problem with all touch games (Like Mystique).

I have been playing Robo Defense for weeks, up to level 37 so far and no lag at all when touching the screen. With this game you have to touch the screen hundreds of times during a single level.

The only lag I have ever experienced on the Hero is with a program called Absolute Fitness and only when using the onscreen keyboard. My point is you can't blame the Hero when the software is the problem.

The thing is its not a full blown lag. I just notice that the hero simply skips frames when you touch the screen. I notice this with the google and non Google branded heroes. this is most noticable whith dragging gestures.

how would you get a firmware upgrade on a tv?

On newer network enabled tv's you can do it directly over the internet or your computer, some tv's have a memory card slot, others you have to create a disc and load it through your dvd player.
