POP/Comcast Email help

Hi Folks,

I am a newbie to the droid. I have been lurking here for about a month before I bought it, so I am in fairly good shape with it other than one iritiation.

I am coming from three years of Blackberry (8800, 9000) use. My iritation is with my POP/Comcast email. On my BB I could delete a message and it would delete it from the server without any issue. It also would stay on my BB after I downloaded the email from the server to my PC. With my droid I lose the message once I download it to my PC. Is there a way to do this? I have tried the stock email program, K-9 also.

I have even tried using forwarded email through G-Mail, but that does not delete the message on the Comcast server when I delete it in G-Mail. Is there a trick to this I am missing?

Look forward to some great info on this one if there is a solution.

I do have my email setting setup so that when I delete a message from my Droid it deletes it from the server. Even with this, sometimes a message will reappear on my phone on a subsequent download from the server. Not sure if others see this also.

The other thing I want to have is to keep my messages on my Droid after I have downloaded them from the server to my PC/Laptop. Is there a way to keep the sync from removing the message from my phone unless I delete it on my phone?

In the settings in Gmail where you set it up to check other POP accounts you can click edit info on the Comcast account its checking. In the window that pops up theres a checkbox for "Leave copy of message on server. Only thing is it just deletes the message when Gmail loads it not when you delete it.

Personally i have Gmail set to check my Comcast email and my school email and I just check my one Gmail account. It makes things alot easier especially with Gmail pushing to my phone.

Are you using Outlook? I've always had the same issue, as soon as I open Outlook and it d/l's an email from the server, I would loose it from my phone. There's a workaround through the account settings in outlook if that's what you're using. (Tools/Email Accounts/View or change.../select the account to change, then select more settings. Under the Advanced tab, there's a check box to leave a copy of the messages on the server) This allows you to keep the emails on both your outlook and phone. Hope that helps.

Anyone have issues with comcast not sending all of the emails to your phone vs. Outlook? What I mean is that if I'm at my PC, while looking at outlook, I have several emails that have come in. The majority of those emails that I received on my PC, do not come through my HTC Hero. I would say almost 50% of them. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, April

I think I have the same problem as the original poster (I just figured out, thats what OP means in the forums, duh!) so I apologize if it's been answered, and I'm just being dense!

Here's my setup:
At home, I get my Comcast email via Entourage (Mac, Office 2008)

I have my POP/Comcast email on my Dinc set up as my 'default' email. (my work Exchange is redirected to Gmail, works great, not sure I want to do the same with Comcast just yet, please humor me :)

I also have 'Delete from Server' checked ON;
Download options -->By Days -->All

I would like to have the emails I open and delete on my phone, NOT SHOW UP ON MY Entourage email as duplicates when I get home. Once I've seen them on my phone, I don't want to sift through them again at home.

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!!
