Root Gtab SD card,and internal storage issues

Im having an issue with my gtab,that I cant figure out....I am familiar with root and putting roms,on my droid x.This tablet has me stumped right now.....I did clockwork,and vegan 5.1 via internal memory.I tried to update it to 5.1.1 with the updater,I dropped it onto my 2gb sd card(my new 32GB isnt here yet),when I go into CW recovery I choose zip from card,and it gives me everything from internal storage ...the original vegan rom,and cw...when i go to menu-settings-sd card and storage,its showing my SD card as 13.07 total GB,with 12.86 available,(even though its a 2gb card),and my internal is showing 1.79 total,and 1.49 available....so it seems as if they somehow got reversed....... also in ROM manager,I cant find my backup I created,although if I go into CW,it is there .....could this all be because i partitioned the sd card? Id like to update Vegan,and make a backup,maybe try TNT but right now,Im not sure what to do next...

Sdcard=internal memory
Sdcard2=external memory

Your internal memory is partitioned with 2gb of app space and the rest as storage. So the memory u are seeing is all for your internal memory. I don't use ROM manager at all on my gtab so I can't really speak to it but if there is some way you can have ROM manager look into sdcard rather than sdcard2 than it should be able to see ur backups. As for your vegan 5.1.1 update zip it would be easier if you put that on ur internal memory rather than ur external sd.

Thank you for your help....You are right,Sd card,and sd card 2 are all internal storage...however mounting the actual micro-sd card,the 13.7GB is showing as the actual 2gb sd card....I forgot to say that I did find all the files in astro. Is there any way for me to go back at this point,to the way my droid is set up? Remove the sd card partitioning,and put the roms on the micro sd card?
One thing I did wrong also is as soon as I got clockwork working,I made a backup of the stock rom,I thought that it was on the sd card,like my droid would be,so I wasnt worried partitioning the internal storage,well it seems it wiped my backup of stock,so I cant go back now......I have no stock gtab rom.....as far as I know....I made a backup of vegan 5.1,which I can access from clockwork,but not the rom manager...I like the rom manager because I like to rename the backups,and keep track of them that way.....I still havent updated to 5.1.1,i put the files on the sd card,but cant find them in clockwork recovery.....so i did something wrong,must have put them on the wrong partition...

In settings in Vegan, when you go to sdcard and storage, that's all internal memory. Unfortunately going into settings does not show you how much memory is in your external sd card. This the reason why you don't see the roms you put in your 2gb sdcard. The version of clockwork that we have cannot read external memory. At least I don't think it can. This is also the reason why we need a file manager like astro so we can see the files on external memory devices. As of right now, all clockwork backups, roms, and supplemental zip files need to be stored somewhere in the internal sd card for you to be able to flash it using clockwork.

As for the stock rom, no worries there's a file you can download if you ever need to go back to stock.

I can't really speak about ROM manager since I don't use it but if you want to rename your backups, I believe you can do it manually. Navigate to your internal memory card, look for a folder called clockwork, then go to the sub folder called backup, then find the file you want to rename. Just as long as you keep your backup file in that same subfolder, you will be able to see it in clockwork.

You learn something new everyday...thank you for the explaination..the cw on my droid,droid x and Dinc,were all set up to use the SD card for storage and access,I thought they all did,so that was why i wasnt afraid to partition the internal memory. I unmounted system,and data,turned on usb storage,and dropped the update into the small partition last night...and then wiped delvic cache and updated to 5.1.1. So far I dont notice any difference,other than when i go into about device,and see the new version 5.1.1.
I noticed also when I downloaded a song,it isnt in my music player like on my phone...I need to figure out where its going,and how to access it.Then I need to figure out how to get the full usb port working.....and how to control it....
If I used a different rom,would I be able to see my external sd card and access it normally?

you can only access an external, so in my case, 32gb card from a file manager. is the only way to transfer things to the sd card (and to the g tab) to pop it out each time? when i mount the "internal" sd card, only 16gb shows up on my PC.

I wish I knew that the SD card wasn't accessible before I spent the money on the gtab. Its really a 16gb device. ..the internal memory is all you can access with the say its set up.

It allows you to choose which sdcard (internal and external) to mount when connected to a PC. I use a thumbdrive so I don't really need this app but it might be a good option for both of you or any one who uses an external sd card.

Raw- Are you saying your gtab can't read your external memory card for anything other than installing ROMS? If that's the case, you might have a defective unit. The gtab should be able to read both internal and external cards using a file manager to view media and other things.

I just use ES File explorer to transfer files wirelessly from my computer to the tablet, because usually I'm too "lazy" to connect it via USB.
For bigger files I use a USB stick to copy those to the micro sdcard.

I guess it all depends on how often you need to get new stuff onto your external card, but so far I'm ok with moving files around with a file explorer app. Love Dropbox too.

Also check out the Sniffer app that came with Vegan. It shows you your tablet memory, USB Drive contents (if there is one connected) and microSD in a nice overview. Has copy and paste functionality too, but I prefer ES File explorer for that.

I haven't been able to read anything in the SD card as of yet.SD is the internal SD card and sd2 is the 2gb partition off the 16gb internal.however if I unmount the external SD card, I then cannot access the partition ,so the gtab seems to think that it's reading the external when its mounted but in fact it is reading the internal.I was able to go in astro and see the external SD card. I also haven't been able to use the full USB port,it may be my own fault as I have been real busy at work and haven't had the time to spend finding out how to do all this stuff.I figured if I plugged something in it would recognize it but it hasn't.I made a mistake thinking all android devices were similar because I had a MD,dinc, and Droid x and knew them inside and out. The storage accessibility differences are really stumping me,I am not a fast learner with computer issues. Thankfully YouTube actually shows you, if not for YouTube I still wouldn't know how to use ex bootstrapper. ....
