Motorola Bionic Officially "Delayed"

Motorola has officially pushed back the launch of this phone from Q2, to "sometime this summer". They're incorporating enhancements.

I said this would happen back when it was announced. If they would have released it as it was, it would have been obsolete before it even came out. As I've been saying all along, if we get this phone before the snow flies again...I'll piss my pants with excitement.

I think the Bionic is really the Targa now, and Moto is probably spinning. Technically the Bionic is dead and a newer model will be released. Bet cha' ;)

VZW is going to look real silly being the only carrier without a dual core until summer, which of course lasts into September.

Summer is a nice long time frame. Nice & vague and by then, there will be the HTC, LG and Sammy dual cores looming. Wait, this IS Verizon, so maybe Moto will be one of the few if only dual cores.

VZW has to keep on pushing mid level devices for premium prices :)

this phone is now tainted to me, so i don't believe anything and won't until an official statement from Moto or VZW comes up....i don't care what WSJ says they were told.

I agree in that it seems more spin than anything else. I need to find the DC episode where he asks if anyone wants a sugar donut and then faints. Priceless :)

I don't think Bionic is dead and just became Targa (quad core Tegra3). Leaked photo of it looks more like fatter Droid X, looking very suspicious like fake photoshop.

Regarding dual core phones on VZW, they will have DX2 soon. So I don't worry about their not having dual cores. If they push Bionic back to Q3 Summer, it's getting very close to SGSII launch in Q3 too. I wonder how VZW will arrange launch of these two powerful phones. Another huge factor is when iPhone5 arrives on VZW this year, which will surely shut down everything else for a month at least.

Yes, my sarcasm was poorly articulated. My guess is it will not be the Targa, for the the pure "mid level" and "premium price" strategy that VZW have latched on to and folks apparently are oblivious to it.

Now what to do? Jump on the SGS2 if it beats the Bionic out of the gate? Or wait to see just what enhancements were made if that is indeed the case?

I have the benefit of having a family plan of 5 lines. With a special deal, I've added data to all lines, and it's actually almost the price of when I was the only smartphone on my plan (I know have 3). I currently have 2 upgrades waiting in the wings, with another one coming in July. I also have a family that has no idea what phones are the best options, and turn to me for all their info.

I'm thinking that if the SGS2 does come out first that I may just jump on that. If the Bionic winds up being a true beast that can't be denied, I could always hand down the SGS2. By that point, all lines will finally be using the data I'm already paying for. And I'll have an upgrade next April and one again next Oct. But I do think it's important to have these upgrades kinda scattered, which is why I was hoping to be getting ready to have my hands on the Bionic.

hello, thunderbolt.....

If you are going to get a single core, wait for the LG Revolution:

1. IPS display (TBs is nice, but a battery drainer)
2. HDMI (TB has none)
3. Dedicated video chip (TB has none)
4. 16gb internal flash (TB has none except 2.4gb app space)
5. Netflix (TB has Blockbuster- nuff said)
6. Different radio chip and true voice over LTE

Of course if is not out yet. My guess is May.

How did you do this? I only have one data plan, but would like to have 3, but don't want 3 x 29.95!

This past January, Verizon had sent out an email to a select few customers about a special deal for a new plan, with a unique number that was to be called. Someone posted this email in a thread on DroidForums.

Ultimately, the plan was made that every line HAD to have data added. Nothing else about my original plan was changed, minutes, text, or otherwise. But, instead of data costing $30 a month, it only costs $10. They also still honored my military/emergency responder discount. My bill is now less than what it was when I was the only smartphone.

Initially, I had to change the primary number on my plan each time I got a new smartphone (which I currently have 3 of) as the main line could not have data. I guess that's out the window now.

That deal, however, has since expired. Many of us were able to take advantage of it, but that was a right place, right time kinda deal. But this is why it'd be a mistake for me to leave Verizon, and also why I want to jump on the 4G train as quickly as possible. I don't want to have to alter this plan, if that's at all possible.

Yeah I called 4 times on that deal and was shot down. I'm going to give Verizon a chance to keep me...but I'm not doing another contract at this price. I hope Verizon hasn't gotten rid of their retention plans along with their 1year contracts and their $300 phones.
