Gap between the keyboard and screen when closed

I just got my droid and I noticed that the gap between the keyboard the screen when the phone is closed is slightly more on the bottom left corner than on the other corners. When pushed down I can make the gap go away.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Mine is uneven at the bottom left corner of the screen, but I'm not sure if that's how it came or after I installed a snap-on case to it. Since it was one of those non-VZW cases, it had a tab that rubbed against the bottom of the screen and it might have pushed it up a bit. But it's still tight and slides like a bulldozer through a construction site. Just has a gap. It no longer bothers me because well, it's a phone.

Mine has a larger gap on the bottom right corner (by the back button) than the left. It does indeed bother me, but like sooper_droid12 said in another post, one must pick one's battles. This is far less bothersome than the problem my other Droid had.

I knew my OCD would be in high gear with a slider phone...

there's going to be some slight differences in the tolerances between the two sliding pieces. Here's a thought...why not focus on a mm or 2 and just enjoy the phone?

I'll never get people that are that OCD on stuff.

iam droid ocd. the littliest thing im on the phone with verizon. i didnt pay 200$ for a phone to have something so little happen in the first 30 days. maybe after everyday use for 3-4 months ok... but 30 days no way. same as when you buy a new car. you look for things and flaws to make the dealer fix any concerns you have,

Yeah, exactly, I paid $200 and I want this thing to be perfect. But yeah, my original Droid, which had issues, was REALLY flimsy in the bottom left corner (the back button). Like, it felt more clicky than a BB Storm. My new one is slightly clicky in that corner too, but meh, what are you gonna do? I doubt slider phones can be made perfectly.

Put one small strip of electrical tape on the back of the screen. Place it opposite to where the phone has a gap (i.e. if the bottom left of your phone has too much spacing, place the tape in the top right.)

I had a thread a while ago with pictures detailing this, but I've actually changed the position of the tape and liked it alot more. Now with the tape behind the screen, the added bonus is my phone doesnt open in my pocket anymore =)

Duct tape and a can of hi-gloss black spray paint did wonders for mine. I carry a half roll of duct tape with me everywhere I go. You just never know.

Just kidding. I whipped mine out and it looks a-ok!

mine is the same way. The Right side of the phone is Solid when i push down on the screen. But if i push down on the screen in the Lower left and corner the Screens "clicks" It's so F**king annoying. I want my Phone to feel solid. But thats just me, I've had 3 droids, lol. First one was Fine until i dropped it, and the replacement was Flimsy as hell. And my 3rd one is still not up to standards as my 1st one but oh well.

Ha ha....you're saying that because you feel $200 is a huge purchase. I was thinking, I only paid $200 for it....i'm not going to micro analyze it like its worth a fortune!

$200 is pocket change for me! My plan isnt up till March 2011. I paid $490 for mine and Iv spent close to $100 on things to keep it protected. So yeah its like a girlfriend. You just dont let any random person come up and slap her on the ass do you? As of the gap its just one of her perks LOL!

My screen seems to have this odd greasy smear on it. Almost like a cheek print mixed with some suspicious smudges. Possibly finger smudges. How many of you have a greasy screen and finger smudges? Should we take our phones back? Class action lawsuit? Is it Friday yet?

I just upgraded to shoes with no laces, problem solved!

I paid $300 for mine with a one year contract. I wasn't happy with it. for $300 bucks I should be getting more out of a phone. with in a month of having the phone it started to fall apart. once that plastic covering came off the back of the screen i started to notice the gap, quite noticeable gap. the screen would sit uneven when opened. i hated that dust wouldn't come off of the keyboard. i always touched the bottom row of buttons when watching a video. the call quality was horrendous--hissing and buzzing...other people had the same issue. but the os is nice--except there was no flash out of the box on video. or any option at that. my samsung omnia could do just as many things out of the box then the droid. just my opinion for paying 300 bucks for a phone and being stuck with paying out the a$$ for the crap at verizon. but dont get me wrong, it had a beautiful screen--fast as hell, i liked typing on the keyboard. but those minimal pluses didn't out weigh the benefits of keeping my samsung omnia and just waiting a few months. plus its my internet, and the wifi tethering didn't work before my 30 days were up. :-D

Yes, the whole "phone thing" is really a large committment, almost like marriage, all the way around. In choosing the Droid (or almost any other phone), you are promising to honor and pay your service provider an agreed to amount for two years. If you fall in love with another phone and choose to ditch your current one and divorce your provider, other fees are incurred. Even paying $200 for the phone and promising $110 a month comes to about $2800...
It's not "just a phone".

The gap is more than cosmetic issue, it also affects touch screen responsiveness because if the screen moves away when you touch, it may not register the touch immediately. She got a new one within 30 days. I highly suggest you do the same if you are still within that period.

Remember the screen uses electrical impulse not pressure to indicate a touch; therefore, your logic is flawed.

I'm speaking from personal experience. When the top screen on the droid moves, it gives an inconsistent touch experience. Capacitive touchscreens respond to changes in the electric field, which is not as cut and dry as touch or no touch. You skin acts as an insulator, especially if it's dry or calloused. Try it yourself. You can physically touch the screen without it registering a touch. I had a screen protector on, which made it even less sensitive.
