battery drain 2.2 update

Actually, if one were to install applications to the SD card (we can now do that in 2.2), I wonder if your application data would be saved...

Does anyone know?

I did the reset the other night. B4 i did i backed up my contacts and callender and transfered all my app it would allow me to the sd card. After the factory reset sure enough all my apps on the sd card were gone!:( Wasn't happy. Lucky for me i wrote done all my apps to retrive them. So, does anyone know why they went bye bye case i have to reset again? Should I of pullled the SD card out b4 i reset? Anyway the battery life is no better b4 the 2.2 update and after the reset if anything it may be a little worse than with 2.1 so the reset just cost me time and got me nowhere. I know there's a good app to save apps any suggestions?

Get Mybackup, read my previous post, and maybe you pressed partition sd card?

-- no live wallpaper (mine is a black background and it saves energy). WHERE DID YOU GET BLACK
-- no theme (theme is the biggest battery drain of all).WHERE DO YOU CHANGE THIS
-- do not set auto-refresh on your apps. All my apps are set at manual refresh, including Twitter. The way I see it, if I am not using the app, I don't really need to refresh the data constantly.HOW DO YOU DO THIS
-- set your Google sync (if you are using Google account) at 15 minutes or longer.
I CAN'T FIND WHERE TO SET TO 15 MIN.

THANKS SO MUCH

Ok....so I havent done the reset yet on either phones and the battery life seems to be better with no changes....could this be possible or is it just my imagination.

As stated earlier - my wife uses her phone exactly the same every day and yesterday and today - her phone barely went below half after all day of usage.

Could after a week of using 2.2 the phone is 'straightening' itself out so its more efficient ?? or am I just crazy ?

I updated to 2.2, and have been having horrible battery life like the rest of you. But I noticed now that when I wake up my phone, the WiFi icon is on. Before the 2.2 update, it would take a few seconds for the WiFi icon to come up at the top of the screen. So this is kind of leading me to think that the WiFi isn't disabling itself when the phone is asleep, and causing horrible battery life.

I am testing that theory today. It has only been unplugged for maybe an hour and a half, but my battery is still at 97%, much better than previous days with 2.2. Maybe the WiFi isn't working right, and is not disabling when the phone is sleeping?

No i definatly pressed "move to sd card". Went to the verizon store today. They are going to give me a new battery. Hope that helps. I will try Mybackup, thanks!!

The sd card apps are stored in /mnt/asec, normally it would be stored in /data/apps, that is why when u reset, u lose all apps, what I think is that it wipes everythng except /sdcard, that's why u lost it all maybe

I use black too, go to Market and get "Colors" app for hundreds of hues including black. I use an Android 7 theme, Launcher Pro, cube function, not rooted. The screen shot is the cube in mid rotation. I am unimpressed with Fascinate battery life with either 2.1 or 2.2- I think 2.2 is worse

This cube thingie makes your phone looks like the Pantech Crux, ha ha. ;)

Seriously, I suspect the battery problem is caused by the theme. I never use any theme or any launch program. And my battery life after upgrade is a little bit better than it used to be with 2.1.

The easiest way to get a black wallpaper is to go into your closet with no light. Take a photo without flash. Point your wallpaper to this black photo. It is that easy. :)

I love my cube :D and I would agree on the theme eating battery were it not for the fact that the theme is new and battery life was awful on 2.1 and stock TW- many people with battery complaints have no theme and are stock. I imagine all of those pretty and bright pics in the themw are not helping though and they kinda defeat the goal of a black background with all of those colors - the only black is in the border. I thought the Pantech Crux was some ancient heiroglyphic until I Googled it.

I seem to be on to something. I had my WiFi turned off all day yesterday, and about 12 hours later when I plugged in my phone, my battery was still around 70%. Granted, I didn't use it a lot, but there's no denying that the life was drastically better than previous days, when my phone couldn't even make it through one day. If you guys are having battery life problems and your WiFi is on, then that might be the problem.

Is there a setting anywhere that allows you to turn WiFi off when phone is sleeping? If not, then this needs to be fixed. This is the cause of my problems with battery life.

Yes, the constant checking for WiFi connection will definitely drain your battery. You should always leave it off unless you need to use it. Frankly, I never use public WiFi as it is not safe. :)

The thing is, I never had to turn off WiFi on my own before because it would just disable when the phone screen was off for longer than like 5 or 10 minutes. Now, I don't think it ever disables, and this is what is causing the battery drain. Is there a setting to make sure WiFi disables when the screen is off anywhere?

GPS won't work unless wifi is on- at least on my phone- I finally got that figured out and GPS is superb now. If I turn off wifi then I need to remember to turn it on when using maps or nav. This battery drain may well be related to wifi as you guys have surmised- I am going to turn mine off and see how it goes. FWIW my associate leaves everything on with his iPhone and has excellent battery life. As much as I like Android- I WILL go to iPhone June 2012 or sooner if I win the lottery.
