columbus,oh.
hi, i have now had my nexus one for a couple days and i would like to give my thoughts.
as i have stated previously the screen is an absolute marvel!! it is the most vivid/deep beautiful
screen i have ever seen. the phone itself, absolutely the sexiest phone EVER. the phone feels
like it was custom made for my hand. i really enjoy the android market place, i will not pay
for apps. so it is nice because they are mostly free. in the app. store i downloaded(for free) the
dolphion browser which gives you full pinch to zoom(multitouch) which is absolutely incredible.
once you use pinch to zoom, there is no way you could browse the internet without it.(gotta give props to apple for coming up with that one). my phone has functioned flawlessly. google goggles download is so frickin cool. take a picture of anything and it will tell you what or where it is. the full talking navigation/gps that comes standard is AWESOME!! bye bye garmin.
the speech to text feature is incredible, i just talk regularly into my phone abnd every text comes out perfect, it is sooo cool. i was texting my dad and i said "hey day what up" and then i kind of laughed, and when i looked down at the text screen it wrote, hey dad what's up LOL that was so funny. well, my only complaint is that i am not thrilled with the quality of the speaker or ring tone volume. it is not a deal breaker, but it just seems a little weak, not real potent and powerful. i wish it were different, but i can live with it. i dwonloaded an app from the marketplace called "zedge ringtones" and i got the coolest text tone, it says in a cool 2001 space odyssey voice, "a message has been recieved" it is so futuristic. well, i hope this helps. long live android!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup, you mention my ONE issue with the Nexus: The external speaker. For a device of this quality, it deserved a better speaker.

Hopefully, the "next" Nexus will sport high quality stereo external speakers. One on each end so when you watch a movie in landscape mode you get a nice little soundstage that can be taken advantage of for phone calls using speakerphone as well.

My Bold 9000 had HIGH QUALITY stereo speakers and they are the only thing I miss.

You do understand that someone had to WORK to create those apps. Do you expect a new roof on your house for free? A car for free? You lawn cut by someone else for free? At a certain point, you need to help support the people that are WORKING to create these wonderful apps by sending them some of your money.

Yehhhh, hear hear rdalcanto! As a developer myself (not yet for Android, but who knows) although the feeling of someone downloading and using your app must be lovely, there's nothing like monetary compensation for your time. And we're talking a LOT of time. These people probably have actual jobs as well. I'd be more than happy to pay for well written apps.

if you want to get paid then make a good ap and charge for it. dont complain when something is offered for free and someone takes you up on that offer. it is the developers choice to put out a free download. geez!

Absolutely. But to say "I will never pay for an app." It is the entitlement attitude that is pervasive among half the country (I don't want it unless it is free or someone else is paying for it for me) that makes me sick.

i felt so bad about the 'NEVER BUYING AN APP" comment i made i just
went into the market and bought (myback-up pro), i will try to be
more sensitive to the great guys and girls that make these apps. for us all. by the way, i really like the back-up pro app, it really gives you
a good sense of control and security over your apps and if you ever have to get a new android device everthing can swap over with your sd card, ringtones/alarms/apps/contacts,settings, ect. really cool. and thanks for the advise about supporting the developers, i take your comments as
constructive critisism.:)

If the app does what its supposed to do and does it well then yea i dont have a problem throwing a few bucks someones way for their efforts.
Im at the moment waiting for the nexus to get to verizon then i'll be switching over.
As of now im on a BB storm and app compatibility is awful. I know that developers have to build the app around the OS but when the OS is crap as is with the storm it makes for crappy apps.
From what ive seen and read thusfar things are a lot better using android. If thats the case(hoping) then tossing a few bucks here and there to hard working people wont be a issue.
