Transfer Photos to PC with Windows XP

I've tried to do this, but I don't know what gives. I'm trying to transfer photos from a Samsung Galaxy S (Verizon) to Windows XP. When I plug in the phone, an "E: (Verizon)" drive shows up in "My Computer" but sometimes I can't open the drive and when I can, it contains the following: a .txt file with the phone model info, an autorun.inf file, a Samsung USB driver installer, and a bootload installer. I've ran both installer files and they seemed do something, but after a restart I don't get anything different than I had before. Any help/ideas? Thanks!

Sounds like it's trying to use Kies software, which I believe was the default setting.

Go to Settings > applications > USB settings. I have mine set to "Ask on Connection".

From there, you can either move your media files using an installed 'Media Player' or 'Mass Storage' which allows you to see your SD card contents in XP File Manager/Explorer and copy files accordingly like any mounted drive.
