Wi-fi and data use

There is a great app on the marketplace called 3G Watchdog, it'll show you how much data you're using when away from your Wifi. You'll be surprised how little you use.

Cheers Al
I agree with this last statement!
I have 1gb data plan on my phone and there is no way I can spend this, just no f*****g way :D
I don't know what should I do to spend this :D

Specially when I'm on wifi at home and at work :)

I have only had my Hero on for 1 hr and used 1.25M of GPRS data usage even with Wi fi connected. I have been told by tech services at BT that some apps will only use GPRS even if wi fi is available. Not sure which ones though. Anybody any ideas ?

I think any that use location determination when GPS is switched off, but 1.25 mb in 1 hour seems a lot for that.

I've fallen into the...."Got a new phone and not sure what does what trap"....!!!!!!!

Here's my story.

Upgraded to Hero on 3 having had the worst phone in the world N96.

My new free internet plan did not start as soon as I got the phone but at my next billing 24th Jan.

So it was a case of out the box and play.

I started to download a few items and immediately got warning alert text from 3 about data usage....ooops.

So I turned of GPRS and started to use my home wi-fi for a few downloads of apps, etc.

I never had a shortcut to access my3 on N96 but was available on my Hero which I tried the next day.

So I access my3 and check usage so far........******
