Help Music Player does not show all songs

Hi there.

I've bought a Milestone and after the first contact with him, copied some musics to a folder on SD card.
The problem is: some songs does not appear on the player.
Some musics do, some musics does not.
I tried several players (Meridian, RockOn, TuneWiki) to see if this was an issue with the default player, but all of them showed the same problem.
I also thought that this could be a problem with the ID tags of the MP3 files that didn't show, so i checked every one with a MP3 tag editor and fixed some, but to no avail: the files still doesn't show on the list.
Just one more detail: if I go to a file manager and "execute" the MP3 file, the music plays just correctly.

Dows anyone has experienced some behaviour like this, or I'm doing something wrong??

Is there a way to add all files on a folder to a playlist without going one by one on a file manager?

I have seen the same issue I believe. I used an app called ES File Explorer to copy some mp3s wirelessly to my Milestone. WHen opening the Music player, they were not listed. However, when I reboot the phone (switch it off then on again) the music player lists the new songs correctly.

Is there a way to force the Android Music app to recheck mp3 files?

Hi.

At least, in TuneWiki there is an option to resync the files, but in the default player, there isn't one.
On my case, not even after rebooting or resync, I could see the musics.

Try plugging the phone into your computer and tell it to mount the phone as a USB drive. When you disconnect it, it will fully re-index the card for the music player, the gallery and any other application that stores things there.

Another posibility is that the ID used by the application on the phone doesn't have rights to the file. I have not at all explored the filesystem on the Milestone, but Android is linux-based, right? Maybe the file got copied over without read and execute rights for world? I don't know how that would happen, and I don't know how you would fix it without a terminal session. ES File Explorer does not let you set permissions. chmod 777 anyone?

Thx for the responses, but none of these worked.

I've uninstalled TuneWiki and reinstalled Meridian, and found an workaround.
Gave me some work, but I could put all songs on the playqueue:
Using the browser on Meridian, I've entered each of the music folders, one by one, and on those that didn't appear on the playlist, appeared a message saying to rescan the media.
So, I did it, folder by folder...
And, magically, all the musics are now on the playlist.
The only problem I found was that Meridian keep crasshing all the time, and at the end of the process, I've had to turn off the phone, because meridian didn't even started anymore.

Well, at least now I've got all the musics available to hear.

I had similar problem with my Milestone. Re-tag your MP3 files with ID3 v1 tags to solve the problem. More details here.
