HTC Hero rooted not charging!

Ok I've seen this thread before but it seems that in my situation is different.

HTC Hero Spring Version, rooted and install CY 6.1. Phone worked fine, and it was flawless. A few days ago, I ask my 10 year old daughter to plug my phone to charge it. Well she try a few times and told me that the USB doesn't fit. I check, and what happened was, is that she try to plug the USB upside down, and bended the prone connector inside the phone. I managed to find the way to charge by playing around with the USB and connectors, but it stop shortly after. Now I have no battery, no way to charge, and I didn't have enough time to un-rooted in order to file a claim with Spring Insurance.

Any ideas on what to do?

Now I guess I'm screw right?

Do you have a nandroid of your stock rom? If you have enough battery, restore the nandroid and then take it in.

Phone is dead completely....I do have a nandroid, but like I said phone is completely out.

I am assuming you mean Sprint and not Spring correct, you can also take the battery out and take it to sprint and you can have them charge the battery for you, once charged, then you can Nandroid back and then you can take it in and have them look at it, but it needs to be a Sprint repair center.

I guess you could get another battery that is charged and swap them out. Do you have a friend with a Sprint HTC Hero or Sprint HTC EVO 4G?

I think they both have batteries with the same contacts. You could just borrow the charged battery, and do the unrooting and then take it to Sprint.

Yes both are great ideas. I knew I need a few more brain cells to think about what to do. Thanks guys I already call the Sprint Center and told me they can charge the battery in no time. Also for future reference, HTC Evo does have same battery as HTC Hero, as a matter of fact HTC Inspire does too. great advised guys problem solve.

Done, un-root tthe phone, restore to previous rom. And perform a factory reset just in case. Thanks again.

I am glad to hear that it all worked out. There is always a way.

Sometimes it just takes a fresh set of eyes to see a fix for a problem. Cheers.
