How do I save an excel file from my email to my SD card? Am I missing something? This may be the deal breaker for me to go back to my Storm2 if this is not possible. I need access to these for work. I know I can view it from the email but I don't want to go into my email every time. Any help?

I cannot find a way from the gmail app, but if you create an account in the "Mail" app, there is a menu option when you click the attachment icon to copy it to the SD card.

Also, and this might be easier, if you connect to your gmail account in the browser and click on an attachment, it will copy the attachment to your downloads folder on the SD Card.

Use the Apps:

GMail
Docs to Go or QuickOffice

Using GMail to fetch the document will open Docs to Go/QuickOffice. A quick tap of the menu button then on 'save' will have you save to SD.

I just tried both the native HTC mail app and Gmail.

There is no "Save" option in Gmail or QuickOffice; and Docs To Go only allows you to save files if you purchase the full version (is it really $15?).

I guess I didn't realize you can't just "download" attachments directly from the Gmail app (I just tried with a .zip file as well - and finally got something working using AndroZip File Manager, but even that was using a rather twisted method)

There is a (clumsy) workaround - the native (HTC?) Email app allows you to save attachments to the SD card; tap on the little paperclip and you get menu which allows saving. (Of course, it means that you will have to forward mail to another account, or have your contacts send it there in the first place - that's the clumsy part)

It is not that clumsy; you can just set up your gmail account in the Mail app, and read the same message there. There is no reason why you cannot use your gmail account in the Mail app as well. Actually, there is an added benefit; in the People app, you can now track email messages with your contacts.

That makes sense, although I suppose it could still be argued that managing your mail in two different apps is a little bit "clumsy". In any event, at least the OP has options available. Did you turn off notifications in one or the other e-mail apps to avoid duplicated notifications?

I have Office docs on my SD card, but don't remember if I moved them there over the USB cable, or saved from an e-mail/g-mail.

I find the free version of "Docs to Go" is better than "Quickoffice", but it isn't perfect. In Word docs, it doesn't seem to display all fonts properly, and seems to also mess up some of the graphics depending on how they were embedded in the document. Excel doesn't show graphs...only in the full version.
