New Android phones and 2.0 update

Just thought I would share this. Went to 3 different sprint stores today including a repair store where one of the guys has been right about everything from the TP 2 release date to the Hero and Pre release dates. They all said not to expect any new Android phones till at least Q3 and the 2.0 or 2.1 update will be available in early Feb.

Thats fine with me, I don't see a need to release a new Android phone every 3 months anyway. Early Feb would be sweet for the 2.1 update

That is correct Q3 sounds right that Android will have WiMax, by the Q3-Q4 all Android and Palm will becoming with WiMax phones for the true 4G experience. These phone will have CDMA & WiMax. There might just might be iphone 4G on the Sprint network, since the next gen iPhone is called 4G it would make sense to have it on the 4G network. But thats a long shot, but the Android and Palm will 100% be releasing 4G WiMax phones.

I am tired of being associated with a third rate phone company with promises of 4G, late updates that other carriers are already shipping phones with, outdated phones with nothing new for 9 months. Ok, you don't like Sprint. That's your choice, no reason to bash people that do. Grow up. I have great coverage, much better than ATT had. I've also had a good experience with their customer service...can't beat the 23% discount I get either. I don't know what makes you think they have to release a new phone every 5 minutes in order to stay current. Sure their phones have 1.5...but 2.1 will be released soon enough and then once again they'll have 2 of the better Android phones available.

You are the one that needs to grow up. I never said anything about ATT. I am just tired of being led on by a third rate compny. If you are happy so be it. I want the most for my money and am not getting it with Sprint. I have held on hoping for a decent phone and coverage, I am not satisfied nor are the THOUSANDS of others that have left. I dont see AT&T rolling out any plans for LTE, they might start next year, Verizon also says they will roll it out this year or next year but none of them have the LTE up in running in any state, Verizon is self called the fastest 3G but head to head again AT&T & Sprint they all lost, Sprint turned out to be the fastest 3G across the country, so VZW is bogus call, and AT&T doesnt know what to do cause they will loose iPhone and most of its customer base. Sprint is a small company but it is ok, by end of this year they will get faster and better, plus everyone forgot that Sprint was the first company to go digital before VWZ was even born and even before AT&T. I am with Sprint from early 90's and never had any problems, i traveled cross country and never had problems plus i get 27%, but thats the point i can also get 25% with AT&T and 23% with VWZ, but i am happy with Sprint. They are little slow with getting new phones but it doesnt bother enough to jump ship. I just think they could have done things different and that would have made them better company.

Yea, seriously. Where else are you going to go? Verizon is way overpriced and have had terrible phone selection up until a few months ago. Would never go back to them. AT&T was just rated the worst carrier and for good reason. Bad call quality, tons of drops and horrible customer service. How about T Mobile? They are a joke. People with T Mobile have to go outside to use their phone over here and even then their reception is awful. I live a few blocks from Disneyland too, not like I live in the middle of nowhere.

Sprint just released 2 solid Android phone three months ago. These people that are expecting new phones every few months are stupid and do not understand business. You dont release a new product and then release competitors a few months later before they have even had a chance to sell. What happens when 4G does come out though? Lots of people will have to upgrade their phone and what if you are not due for an upgrade because its inside of a year? I would hope Sprint makes an exception.

How about T Mobile? They are a joke. People with T Mobile have to go outside to use their phone over here and even then their reception is awful. I live a few blocks from Disneyland too, not like I live in the middle of nowhere.

I can't tell you how many failed sent text messages happen to me in my house or whenever I'm in a building period usually. If I have a call and know it's going to be a long one, I go outside just to play it safe. Can't wait until my contract is up in April.

i havent heard to much about verizon calling themself the fastest 3g but the largest and at&t i have heard call them self the fastest. but whats the point on being the fastest if you cant get a signal?

AGREED, no need to bash others because you don't care for Sprint. Personally, I love them and have been with them over 10 years now. I was also an independent Sprint Retailer and Sprint was the only company I retailed for that didn't cause problems.

About Sprint waiting and not jumping on every freakin phone that comes out, I am very happy to wait. Sprint sits back and watches while other companies customer's BETA test the new gear and systems. Ever notice all the complaints from AT&T or Verizon customers when they run out and buy the latest and greatest, or jump to new firmware?

I personally applaud Sprints insite and sence of not putting their customers through unnecessary hardships by presenting all the NEW crap as soon as it hits the shippers loading docks. Let the other providers do the testing. I relate Sprint to Toyota. Toyota does the exact same thing and still remains in the Top 3 in the world.

About Customer Service, I have always found them to be top notch, not to mention the Retail outlets, always had a very good experience with them also.

About coverage, I have traveled the US extensively and have yet to find a location with a normal size population to have poor or no coverage. OFC, there is an exception to every rule.

I like Sprint, best selection of phones and plans for the price and my Moment does everything I'd like it to.

You people are crazy. VZW was my first carrier. I dropped calls all the time. When I talk to people with Iphones, the call is dropped all the time. We are not even going to speak on *** T-MOBILE! Your going to pay almost double your phone bill dealing with these other carriers. If you want to be phone chasers then go ahead. I will be here with Sprint, having a phone bill thats less than my car insurance!
