MyPhoneExplorer - manage your phone via PC - now also for Android

This is an amazin app that I was using sometime back when I had my SonyEricsson. Sorely missed the app when I switched to symbian.

Now I'm with android and I want to thank the developer so much for bringing this wonderful app to the android platform :D:D:D

Have been using it for a day and find it great so far.

For everyone who has been missing a complete PC manager for android phones(something like Nokia PC suite, but much lighter and much much useful) then this is the app to get.

One suggestion to developer. Please update the web-page to a basic how to install and connect for android. It needs both an app on PC and an app on android to connect and sync.

Edit: Conversation view of my sms still lists sent/received separately. Can this be made threaded just like in the phone?? That would be awsome...
And the device icons are not fully covering the phones supported I guess. I use a HTC desire and though the model identified is correct, the image displayed is of some old SE phone..

Edit2: You can just put a screen-shot of the app here. Will help it get more attention it truly deserves....

Love the idea. File, SMS and calls works fine, but when I try to sync with Outlook 2010 (Win7 64), or when I try to download my contacts from the phone to the MyPhoneExplorer Desktop Client, it force closes.

Other than that, it connected via WiFi immediately, and looks smooth. Looking forward to it working properly, then I will donate!

Used on a Desire with 2.2

@vpraveenis: FAQ on my Homepage will come - i just had no time for this. Conversation-View should be also visible if you connect a Android in MyPhoneExplorer. There are many new supported models, i don't know if i'll add all images. But this has no hurry

@haddock: Please update the client from market. The bugs should be fixed

Just updated, but still FC. I haven't tried after a restart, but will do that later when I have time. Thanks for the quick response though!

Thank you zillertaler!

This is exactly what I've been looking for.

No PC Suite came with the Nexus One and I have been trying to get by with the Chinese 91 PC Suite.

IMHO this should come as standard with all Android phones as it is fully configurable and multi functional.

It reminds me of the Nokia PC Suite on steroids.

I like the WiFi setup and the ability to read, and backup/restore, both phone and SD card memory.

The sync with Office Outlook 2007 works great!

I also like the text message features as well. Would be nice to have MMS as well (or am I missing something?).

Would like thumbnails in Images on the SD card too.

I hope you don't mind but I'm copying and pasting a list of supported Android phones from your website, here:-

Beware! In March 2011, when I used MyPhoneExplorer (version 1.8.0) it could only properly handle the 16 Outlook data fields listed below. Consequently, upon resynchronization MyPhoneExplorer destroyed the Outlook contacts on my PC by deleting information like "Categories", "Business2 Phone", "Other Address", etc. Based on the recent complaints on the MyPhoneExplorer forum, it seems that the current version of MyPhoneExplorer (version 1.8.1) still has this same serious problem.

So now I automatically synchronize Outlook & Android contacts and calendar for free, via Hotmail, which requires no software on the PC, and no app on the phone.

MyPhoneExplorer only properly handles the following 16 Outlook fields and deletes all other fields from Outlook upon resynchronization.
1) First name
2) Last name
3) Company name
4) Home phone
5) Mobile phone
6) Business phone
7) Fax
8) Other phone
9) Home address
10 Work address
11) Email1
12) Email2
13) Email3
14) Web page
15) Info/Notes
16) Birthday

I think MyPhoneExplorer also can't properly handle recurring events on the calendar, right? (Hotmail syncrhonizes recurring events properly.)

Other than the fact that MyPhoneExplorer can't properly synchronize contacts and calendar with Outlook, it's a nice piece of software.

Otherwise it's nice.

The problem with recurring events is, from what I understand, a calendar problem, not a sync problem as such. That is, even a M'Soft VP, replying to a forum question about editing recurring events suggested what I do now when changing a single occurrence. That is, you edit the recurrance such that it now ends at the event before the one being edited. The one being edited is now a single event, which in effect it is, and the rest of the sequence is a new recurring event starting from the next event in the series.

Definitely NOT my experience. MPE might not sync some fields (eg those not replicated on Android) but all it does is leave them in Outlook.

+1

Sorry razz-ma-tazz. It wasn't my experience either with MyPhoneExplorer.

In fact, if MPE is replacing anything it gives you a screen of items and options to choose from so long as you have the Advanced option, in Contacts and Calendar, of "Show confirmation window before making any changes" ticked... which it is by default.
