Motorola Shadow: Would you prefer this keyboard?

the d-pad is still on the wrong side.

Agreed. And the wrist strap (and the little protruding "nub" that it's attached to) is absolutly awful. (Assuming that render has some merit to it.)

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my Droid but just when Motorola seemed to escape death's clutch, it looks like they'll be playing the same game they did with the Razr: Come out with a great design then make negligible "revisions" to it and beat it to death. I'm sure the specs will top the Droid's but from the standpoint of form, that looks pretty much like the phone sitting on my desk right now.

and a few ugly ones. To be honest, I could not care less about physical keyboards. I got the Droid because it was the most powerful Android decide available. With Swype I can enter text as fast as any physical keyboard and I look cool doing it!

My next device will not have as keyboard but I live my Droid even though the keyboard makes her a bit heavy.

Spell check please....I usually dont do this, but your post is almost unreadable.

And This mockup it alright, I mean it isn't that different from the Droid...I'm also not a fan of the white instead of black, black is much sexier.

Honestly, I'd prefer it the slider to come out the bottom of the phone (when held in portrait) and have it be a Blackberry 8830/Bold style chicklet keyboard and a trackpad to facilitate text editing.

At that point, this would be about a perfect phone for me. Gads... that would be the bomb... I'd toss he Droid and buy THAT in a heartbeat.

The painful experience when typing long emails and lask of easy text edit ability is my main gripe with the Droid.

Even if that's a photochop, it's pretty sick. I like it a LOT. Makes the N1 look dated. But it's obviously a chop because the screen is lifted right from the DROID and the bottom portion is WAY too thin to house any boards or even a camera. Also the keyboard doesn't even make sense with it's layout. The numbers don't occupy the full row. There are no punctuation marks, etc. It would be horrible to use because you'd have to use ALT keys almost all the time.

I've always said this about any phone. Before I got my Droid I was hoping that BB came out with a Storm with a slide down keyboard built just like the Curve's keyboard. It was easy to type on the curve with one hand or two. Now I know I shouldnt be typing while driving but it happens

Because he wants to play games with it.

Ah, I see.

Well, I've decided that the Droid sucks because it does not present to me the proper physical interface for the only game machine I've ever owned: a Magnavox Odyssey 2 that I got (and still have in working order) in 1978.

I find the d-pad (and the trackball on HTC Android phones) to be very useful for selecting things that are hard to hit with a finger on the touch screen without magnification.

That Inbrics M1 will be my next phone. It is a beast with a 800Mhz Cortex A8 based processor made by sammy. A much much better keyboard with 5 full rows and beautiful button material, 16GB INTERNAL STORAGE (finally), and it is actually thinner then the Droid. That custom UI looks very sexy, although I prefer vanilla Android most of the time.
