Hey guys,

Did a search, maybe my queries weren't the right terms to use. I rooted my phone a while back and it's turned into a giant heap (force close everything, keyboard acting up, GPS has a mind of it's own and takes forever, am contantly turning screen on and off just to complete a text message because the phone locks up, using chrome to phone function makes my phone choose a random song and starts playing it with no way to turn it off, the top of my notification bar at the top won't slide down unless i turn in landscape mode...etc.)

I don't want to unroot just yet, but I might have to (you tell me, with all the issues above...should I?, I enjoy the free tethering as I travel a lot). At any rate, I am simply trying to reformat the phone and I keep getting stuck at the white screen with the little androids on skateboards at the bottom. I am choosing 'reboot' and it does just that, reboots only. I also choose Bootloader > Fastboot - and then it tells me there is no image PC3DIAG.zip (it goes away too fast).

Can someone please assist? Thanks!

So if I get this straight:

I will download this stock rom and put it on my SD, then get into the bootloader menu and the phone will automatically recognize?

I forgot to mention, I dl'd all the titanium backup/ rom manager apps etc, so I know I have a backup somewhere, but I am unable to access it and run it. Would someone mind assisting me? I'm actually a pretty bright guy, and have looked that up as well, but I'm just turning up dead ends.

I'm no stranger to this phone hacking stuff but for some reason this little Evo is giving me some very rudimentary challenges.

ok so the PC36IMG message is standard. whenever you got to hboot(bootloader) it is programmed to search for that image. can you select recovery from there?

i would not recommend that you use rom manger. it tends to create problems like this. if you can get to recovery, you can just flash another rom. just let us know if you need help navigating through your recovery.

The moment I hit recovery my phone flashes the HTC EVO 4G logo for a split second then goes back to bootloader menu.

ok so this is what you need to do:
1. download this file PC36IMG_RA_2.3.zip
2.rename the file by just erasing the "_RA_2.3" in the name. basically do not add an extra ".zip" to the name as windows hides extensions. it needs to be named exactly PC36IMG.zip
3.transfer the file over to the sd card by a card reader if you have one.
4.power off or battery pull
5.press and hold power+vol down
6.hboot(bootloader) will then scan for the PC36IMG file
7.press vol up to update but to not reboot yet select no for that.

now you should have a new recovery called amon ra2.3. you can now flash a rom of your choice. here is how:

1.download rom
2.in amon ra select usb-ms toggle
3.transfer the file to your sd card.
4.select flash .zip from sd card
5. find your file and select it.
6. it should then flash it
7.reboot. it will take a bit long as first boot has to build up dalvik cache.

hopefully you have a working phone at this point once booted up. if all goes well go back to recovery and make a nandroid backup. hope this long post helps.
