Next week I will be buying a 4GB SD card and what to know how to instal it on my GT540. I've already checked out the one that came with the phone and it has alot of LG bits and (I'm guessing) important file folders to make the phone work.

Do I copy these folders and files over to the new memory card? Or will the phone do it automatically?

Even just a short quide would be alot of help. Thanks in advance.

Hi, i'm trying to do that ^^^ Copy my old 2gb sd card onto my desktop so that i can then paste from desktop to new 8gb card but i keep getting "filename too long try using a shorter name or destination" and i obviously wouldnt want to change anything cause it wont work in the phone... Any suggestions?
I dont think copying stuff is necessary. I've inserted new SD card and system writes and makes necessary folders in the new SD card as it prepares for it. e.g when u open cam application it creates DCIM folder automatically, if it doesn't exist.

But not sure wot will happen to the applications installed on the SD card.

You copied the files to Desktop which belongs to C:/, usually NTFS... Copy the old 2GB SD files to a "FAT32" drive... Then move it to your new SD Card

Copying stuff is necessary because you'll lose your data, settings etc which were in the old SD... The apps installed in SD will disappear (won't uninstall, if you put the old SD, they'll show up again)...
