I just became elegible to upgrade my phone, I keep hearing things that vz is gonna switch to tiered pricing and would prefer to get locked in before they change things. Really split between those 3 choices, get a charge with it's amazing amoled screen thats larger and customization of android, or go with iphone 4 with it's higher pixel density, built quality and pretty good camera detail, I can always wait for the apple event on the june 6th-10th and risk being closer to tiered pricing.
I looked at dx 2 but I just couldn't get into the whole pentile screen, it just wasn't right for my taste even with a higher resolution.

Droid Charge 100% all the way. The iPhone is for 16 year old girls, hipster chicks in birkenstocks and people that just don't know any better.
If you played hacky-sack more than never then i'd say get the iPhone, otherwise be a man....get the Charge.

And what do you mean "built quality"? My friend farted and his iPhone screen cracked. Do you wanna have to buy that stupid, ugly $60 Otterbox? Don't get me started!

I had this same debate when I went to get a phone. iPhone, wait to see if they come out with LTE for it, Charge now... What to do...
After 2 1/2 weeks with the Charge, i'm happy I went this route. It feels a lot better in the hand (the iPhone feels really small and dainty in comparison now), the screen is gorgeous, and the LTE speeds holy crap.
I was honestly set on going with the iPhone 4 because all that was available was the TB, and battery life on that didnt cut it. The day I went to buy a new phone they told me that they JUST released the Charge as an LTE device (i hadnt been keeping up with the news on all the LTE phones cause I truly had my mind set on an iPhone 4). I played with it a little in the store, took a few hours to think about it, went back and bought the Charge. Save for network issues (I attribute the problems to Verizon's network in DFW area right now, whether its true or not, it seems that most of my Verizon friends are experiencing similar issues atm) it's a wonderful phone. I'd say go with it :)

Are you guys using a screen protector with it? Is the invisishield or phantom skinz better these days? Keep hearing some of the newer phantom ones have orange peel similar to what the invisishield had. Is it good to just cover the screen and not the whole body?
Did you guys get any acessories and does thebody glove add too much bulk?

I'm using the "anti-reflective" screen protector. I'm mixed about it. I think I'm gonna switch it out for the regular one. The screen is Gorilla Glass, which means its better at scratch resistance than regular glass, but I like to be careful anyways :)
I love the silicon cover, it adds a nice feel and a little bit of extra grip for me personally.
The rest of the accessories, read my thread about accessory issues. I've got some gripes, but thats because I'm "special" lol

Go with the Charge. I was out this weekend w/ friends who all 8 have iPhones. They could not put my Charge down. They were all so brain washed by Apple they had no idea a phone like this existed. They couldn't believe the screen, the apps, and the speed of the phone. I was going to do the same thing, wait for the new iPhone or go w/ whatever other phone was out there. But, this is truly the way to go. Really, how huch more different can the new iPhone be from the rest ? So try something different for a change and you will be happy you did.

Iphone 4 is just about a year old ...
A FULL year...

And you'll have hit for 2 more years? no thanks.

And the iphone 5 is barely going to be an improvement...and its not coming til at least September...and it won't have 3G! Imagine not having a 4G phone until at least mid 2013???

Great point !!! The iPhone is more of a " status symbol " now. People can walk around like their S..T doesn't stink b/c they have one, but really they are not all that. Apple has just bought into the whole persona that everyone likes to have the latest and greatest phone, while in reality the iPhone isn't the latest and great. They just come out w/ the same stuff, change a couple of things and then call it the quote a " new " phone and we fall for it. So if you want the latest and greatest then Charge it up, if you want to keep doing what everyone else is doing than you will be missing out on a better phone expierence.

Have had my 1st AnDROID Charge after a nightmare relationship with the original Blackberry Storm. This phone is amazing, the apps, the screen, the lightweight, pure awesome! Iphone4 is alright, but no 4G, which make a huge difference when downloading and streaming stuff. Battery life is getting better already after the initial charge! I love it, my kids love it, I believe it has a home with me!

My 14-yo daughter got an iPhone 4 and I got my Charge the same day (I upgraded from an Original Droid). I LOVE my Charge and wouldn't trade with her for anything. The iPhone is great for her b/c she was already committed to Apple apps through her iPod. Plus "all her friends" have iPhones. 'nuff said. And the small size is good for her little hands. But the iPhone screen looks TINY and less vibrant compared to the Charge. I'm running Launcher Pro and it is smooth ... no more horrible lag that made me want to throw my OD across the room. Battery life has been great. 4G speed rocks (did a side-by-side web test with my husband's Samsung Fascinate and we both had to laugh at the difference).

My OD was rooted and running various custom ROMs to try to overcome shortcomings. Although I've seen instructions for rooting the Charge, I have no desire to root at the moment because the phone is running so well with tons of great features built-in.

I also have to say that I really, really like the hard keys at the bottom instead of "soft keys." The click feels good and I don't hit keys by mistake (which I often did on the Droid when in landscape mode).

I thought about waiting for the new Galaxy S2 (Verizon "Function"), but just had to go for the Charge.

Yea...don't expect 4G on an iPhone for well over a year.
Also, I'm not sure how well the 3G iPhones work on Verizon's network, but I was streaming a full 45 min Doctor Who episode (not optimized for mobile) last night on my wonderful Charge...I was in a 3G-only area and I only buffered twice, and that lasted less than 5 seconds each.
The screen size, resolution, contrast and color were so friggin great that I was capable of getting completely lost in the show without being aware that I was watching something on a phone.

The screen size sucks for anything like that on an iPhone and if you're on AT&T forget about getting that kind of signal service.

Listen, iPhones are not bad devices. Outside of the weak physical construction, everything else about them is solid. But you are solely at the mercy of Apple and all their restrictions. If you don't like their awful browser, you're fu@ked. You want a wide array of apps, forget it.
The iPhone is a status symbol for young kids and the technological novices.
If all you want to do is talk, text and play Angry Birds, go ahead and iPhone it up. Otherwise get an Android phone.

If you're not in a 4G area get the Incredible 2, unless you really want the sweet sweet screenage of the Charge. The Charge is a bit pricey if you're not capable of utilizing it in full capacity. But if you do have good Verizon 4G then go for it. Awesomeness is not cheap, but well worth it.

I chose the Droid Charge with my upgrade, and I am completely satisfied with my choice. I seriously considered the iPhone, but I'm 6'4" with large hands. Texting and typing in general is SO much easier on the 4.3 inch screen. Then you throw in the brightness of the Super AMOLED, and you really have an excellent device.

Also, the difference in surfing the web between 4G and 3G is significant. If you are in a 4G area (and Verizon's LTE network is spreading gradually), it makes sense to invest in a device that is equipped for the next 2 years. Even if you are willing to hang in there until this Fall or Holiday Season for the iPhone 5, chances are you won't be getting a 4G phone.

If you are really in love with iPhone's interface, you really aren't missing much with the Droid Charge's Touch Wiz.

Let's not Stereotype...I am not 16(I am nearly 19 come August) and I wouldn't be dead wearing Birkenstocks

and I know plenty well :)

I do know that Apple's apps have more refinement than alot of the Apps on my Android Phone....

I also know that waiting for OS upgrades with Apple is less hassle than Android

I also know that no that there is a great User Experience out of the Box with Apple products vs downloading LP, Go Launcher or ADW to improve it with Android

BUT....

Android is so much better for me due to the fact I can't stand Itunes(prefer Zune)

Customization

Ringtones Hassle free(So easy to make ringtones)

Droid Charge has a much better camera and Better screen

But both phones are great...You can't go wrong with either really.

I try to be unbiased vs a lot of people on this site who are so anti-apple it is really sad

You know i read comments like this all the time on androidforums(and other android enthusiast sites) and I tend to think people tend to overexaggerate when it comes to how their phones just WOW Apple users(as if they are some stupid mindless saps who had never heard of an alternative to apple, which is not true)

and I can't see too many Iphone users being overwhelmed and excited by Android phones

Most of my friends are Apple users and they like My xperia play more than my droid charge just because of the Playstation aspect.

I think it's really a matter of personal preference. I have friends who have the iPhone 4 and love it, and I personally prefer the Android phones. Reasons why I personally prefer Android: More customizable, Google Navigation, Voice Search and Voice Commands (I'm sure there are iPhone apps for that, but it comes standard with Android), and finally it syncs really well with all of my Google accounts.

Personal preferences aside, the Samsung Charge does have the advantage of being on the 4g network.

I'd go to the Verizon store and play around with both phones and see which you prefer. Enjoy whichever new phone you end up getting :) Oh and P.S. a word of caution - stay away from the Thunderbolt - it has really bad battery life.

I got my charge this Sunday. I totally love this thing so far, it's not perfect but I am pretty happy with it. I am coming from a touch pro 2 phone. Only thing I miss from the tp2 is that speaker phone was quite a bit louder, and even output volume through usb jack to cassette deck adapter is not as loud as the tp2.

There's some trade off and most are positive. it's a little wider but it's thinner and a lot lighter, I definitely do not miss the extra weight associated with the tp2 and it's keyboard. Screen is responsive, I have not encountered any slowdown with the exception of flash heavy sites. But then again I am not running too much unnecessary junk on the phone.
Battery is usually 2/3 by the time I get back home or 6/7th if I don't use it much. I ended up getting the dock and it's nice, you can charge the phone and at same time an additional battery in a special compartment, don't even need to charge phone. Low battery, please, I just pull one outta the charger pop it in and put the depleted cell in there.
I wish I could force the camera to orientate itself to portrait instead of assuming your taking landscape pictures.

Programs I loaded so far are Google maps., Beautiful widgets, angry bird rio, psx4droid (got lunar 2, ff7 and crash bandicoot warped working), unEcm and linda manager (lets me browse files).

I still got some work to do, I have avoided getting the ed2 update because it intrudes with rooting. I've been content with the phone so far so I don't know if I will bother rooting and doing some mumbo jumbo with some voodoo kernel thing. ( I'm still new to the lingo, supposedly it helps make the phone faster).

Upgrades I am thinking of doing is maybe flipping my memory card and putting the difference towards a class 10 card, I ordered some phantomskin screen protector, meanwhile I got the anti glare one from vz the day I got it but I think it just makes it glitter a bit.
Rooting and the kernel thing are still under question.
I love the contrast.
